Your role in helping us shape the future:
As Business Development Manager for Intelsat General Communications, you will develop USSOCOM strategy and prioritize activities for Business Development, partnerships, investments and M&A activity. Your key customers include USSOCOM, Program Executive Offices, SOFWERX, SOF AT&L, and subordinate units. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and managing the relationship between the organization and potential customers/partners/acquisition candidates by establishing and cultivating relationships with key individuals at target companies. You'll track your business leads and develop financial analysis and insights in providing input for Management Committee decision making.
Are you up to the challenge?

  • Develop USSOCOM, Special Operations Forces strategies and prioritize activities for Business Development
  • Develop key pursuits of new business opportunities, lead capture plan and proposal efforts to execute business growth
  • Responsible for developing and managing the relationship between the organization and potential partners/acquisition candidates by establishing and cultivating relationships with key individuals at target companies
  • Identifies and develops new opportunities across the markets using an analytical and creative approach. These may take the form of partnerships, acquisitions, joint marketing agreements, sale/leaseback of assets, and development of key orbital assets.
  • Has leadership responsibility for cross-functional teams in the identification and execution of strategic transactions
  • Identifies opportunities for business expansion and develops and manages relationships in assigned markets and accounts that further business development activity.
  • Directs the identification and pursuit of new strategic relationships across the region for all, or a major portion, of the organization
  • Works with and represents the organization to executive level contacts at outside companies and on professional panels (i.e. conferences)
  • Works with marketing, sales and technology groups to implement business development strategy into specific initiatives
  • Analyzes market data to identify opportunities and create 'out-of-the-box' growth initiatives
  • Drives emerging communications capabilities into customer solutions for USSOCOM requirements
  • Develops capture plans for new business within the 5-year operating plan.
  • Partners with product development to ensure product availability aligns with capture milestones
  • Identifies key customer relationship gaps and develops contact plans to increase customer intimacy
  • Submit white papers, identify key customer requirements, develop strategy to pursue new products/solutions to promote business growth


You should definitely have:

  • Bachelors' degree from an accredited university
  • 10+ years of experience working in business development and leadership positions, within satellite communications
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working directly with USSOCOM
  • 10+ years of experience working with SATCOM and end to end communication services.
  • Knowledge of USSOCOM C4I programs of record, government acquisitions process, and current communications capability
  • Executive presence: ability to interact with management at key customers and industry partners at all levels
  • Highly developed knowledge of business acumen, regulatory regimes, technical capabilities and product portfolios
  • Ability to establish mutually beneficial relationships
  • Excellent presentation and people skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (estimated to be about 50% of time).
  • This position is based near SOCOM headquarters in Tampa, FL


It would be nice if you had:

  • MBA
  • 10+ years SOF experience at USSOCOM HQ level
  • 10+ years' experience working at tier 1 satellite services operators.
  • 10+ years selling SATCOM products and services internationally
