In your Business Development Manager role, you'll help us deliver better care for billions of people around the world.

The Business Development Manager (BDM) directly manages a portfolio of Kimberly-Clark Professional's (KCP) large national distribution customers who require a high investment across KCP resources. The BDM serves as the central point of contact for the customer and coordinates activities across all functions of the KCP organization. The BDM is responsible for managing the utilization of shared resources to drive the Customer's business plan to achieve the financial performance objectives.

The BDM strategically conducts joint business planning with assigned distribution customer buyers, category managers, merchants to drive volume and profit growth for KCP categories. Implement KCP strategies and tactics with customer and KCP sales organizations to drive all sales, including eCommerce, for KCP. Manage customer relationships, sales engagement, category management, and business planning and A&P management utilizing cross-functional and data resources.

Your Key Responsibilities include:

  • The BDM is the key interface with the KCP organization and the assigned Customer(s). The BDM develops and leads joint strategies and complex business negotiations, drives organizational change (internal and external) and influences the executive level of the Customer organization.
  • Perform strategic analyses, and design strategic business presentations tailored to achieve customer performance, and support KCP's planning process.
  • The BDM is responsible for delivering the financial growth and profitability targets assigned to the Customer.
  • The BDM aligns with the Channel & Customer Marketing teams to manage the A&P spend (and adherence to the A&P budget) to align and support the growth plan with the assigned Customer
  • The BDM develops and implements sales strategies with KCP Field Sales, Inside Sales, e-commerce, and National Account Teams to achieve revenue targets with assigned customer.
  • The BDM leads regular planning and strategy meetings with the assigned Customer to ensure alignment and monitor/review progress against strategic initiatives. These reviews may include KCP Leadership and Strategic Customer Leadership teams where appropriate.
  • Strategically analyze and interpret data and trends to manage business. Including monitoring key activities and metrics utilizing business plan trackers, generating customer forecasts and financial performance projections.
  • The BDM creates a tactical business plan for the Customer which supports the mutually defined objectives set between KCP and the Customer. The BDM updates the business plan regularly and uses the business plan as a roadmap for the gaining organizational support and monitoring tactical progress.
  • The BDM develops sales forecasts and tracks sales results monthly, in the door and out the door. The BDM demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the Customer's performance at the SBU level, product family level as well as at the end use customer level. The BDM initiates action based on the monthly performance monitoring to ensure tactical plans are impacting sales results.
  • Keep team leader informed on status of plans and programs, changing conditions, requirements of marketplace, competitive activity, issues and accomplishments that may affect sales results. Develop alternative courses of action. Consider alternatives, risk management and impact of alternatives.

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • 5+ years of B2B experience
  • Proven experience interfacing with multifunctional teams on specific tactical initiatives
  • Proven experience managing and influencing executive level relationships (internal and external)
  • Proven experience influencing peers and non-direct reports (internal and external)
  • Proven examples of data driven analytical skills
  • Evidence of continued personal and professional growth and development
  • General understanding of B2B marketplace dynamics and strategies
  • Experience in the strategic development & implementation of innovative merchandizing, marketing, pricing and sales policies and programs
  • Experience managing sales budget and expenses to contribute to profitable objectives and investments
  • Experience as liaison between customer contacts, team counterparts and internal support team members to foster culture of growth, accountability and collaboration
