BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - BIOPHARMA PARTNERSHIPS (Rare Disease & CNP)

Invitae is a rapidly growing medical genetics company whose mission is to bring comprehensive genetic information into mainstream medicine to improve the quality of healthcare for billions of people. To support this growth, Invitae is looking to add a biopharma business development role to join our commercial partnerships team.  This team member will be responsible for establishing and growing relationships with senior executives at biopharmaceutical companies across rare disease, oncology and other genetic disorders.  The role will provide strategic guidance on the growth trajectory of the commercial partnerships team and will play a key part in defining Invitae’s offering to biopharma clients.       

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Prioritizing target partnerships opportunities among the biopharma landscape in rare disease, oncology and other genetic diseases
  • Establishing and building client relationships with senior executives at biopharmaceutical companies
  • Identifying and coordinating appropriate internal resources to support partnering discussions
  • Structuring and negotiating partnership agreements, including in cases where a creative and novel approach is required due to unique client needs
  • Managing relationships with existing clients and identifying opportunities to broaden our commercial offering
  • Providing guidance on the strategic roadmap for the commercial partnerships team
  • Coordinating with our implementation team on the execution of projects

EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTERISTICS

  • 8+ years of experience in relevant business development roles selling to biopharmaceutical companies, including within diagnostics companies, clinical research organizations (CROs), data providers and other roles where consultative selling with biopharma clients is required
  • Experience with rare diseases, cardiology, neurology, pediatrics and metabolics preferred
  • Demonstrated track record of building and managing relationships with senior biopharma executives
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to distill complicated concepts into easily understood recommendations
  • Fantastic team member who thrives in collaborative team settings
  • Experience in rare disease, oncology and other genetic diseases is preferred
  • Network of contacts in the biopharmaceutical industry is preferred
  • Eagerness and capability to engage with medical professionals regarding the scientific, commercial and technological aspects of genetics
  • Highly motivated individual with an ability to thrive in ambiguous and dynamic environments
  • Up to 30% Travel
