About the Role:

Business Development Associates work to prospect cold and warm leads through development of creative acquisition strategies and client research. A BDA will contribute to the delivery of overall sales goals by booking media calls with potential clients. This role affords the opportunity to master prospecting at PitchBook and continue to learn the overall media and financial industry as well as developing the skills necessary for making the transition to a Media Sales Business Development Representative.
PitchBook Media Sales team drives our growth through new client acquisition and growth of existing relationships. Our Business Development Associates are the first point of contact for a large proportion of the new business opportunities and begin the process that culminates in long term contracts signed by the Media Sales team. This is a highly visible role that makes a direct and significant impact in our business. Our Business Development Associate role provides boundless opportunities for both personal and professional growth.
Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Achieve demo booking goals measured at a monthly cadence while providing an excellent experience for prospective customers
  • Work with Media Sales team to build strategy to engage top clients
  • Connect with prospects through written and verbal communication in order to book demos that show off the media offering and drive deal closure
  • Drive engagement with prospects through personally crafted sequences and/or marketing provided materials via Highspot
  • Act as a consultant - take the time to understand your clients' needs and business priorities and address them head on asking thorough and pointed questions, guiding potential clients through needs analysis and discovery sessions to qualify the lead and drive new opportunities
  • Work closely with senior business development representatives to grow knowledge of client needs and the end to end sales cycle
  • Work continuously to document the details of each prospective client interaction in Salesforce in order to improve the customer experience and drive deal closure
  • Consistent follow up on prospective client inquiries
  • Support the vision and values of the company by setting an example and demonstrating desired behaviors
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Have a BA/BS degree, commonly in economics, finance and related majors
  • 3+ year of successful sales experience, with a technology product preferred and/or 6+ months of achieving sales targets in a SDR or CSA role at PitchBook
  • Prior experience with Salesforce or similar CRM preferred
  • Knowledge of the MS Office suite including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Interested in financial markets or services, particularly private equity and venture capital
  • Love to prospect – you will act as the engine of our sales team, warming up leads to be shared with outside sales
  • Ability to operate with a strong sense of urgency and deliver results
  • Highly curious with a positive attitude
  • Have terrific prioritization skills to handle the large volume of leads efficiently 
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess strong negotiation skills and can effectively close leads
  • Team player with entrepreneurial spirit – with the desire to try new idea in order to achieve greater levels of success
  • Self-motivated, persistent, goal-oriented attitude and can work effectively as an individual or as part of a team
