Associate Vice President, Bids & Proposals

Curriculum Associates is seeking a consummate people and project manager, someone who leads by example, has a holistic but strategic view of how to leverage sales proposals to increase our service to state departments of education and school districts nationwide, and who is also ready to dive in where needed to help the team get things done.
This opening will replace the current AVP, who has been in the role for 10 years and is moving to a different position within the company. The transition presents the right candidate with the perfect blend of an established team and process, with ample opportunity for a new leader to collaborate with the current veteran managers to take the team and function to the next level.
Impact you'll have:
• Hire, train, mentor, supervise, and champion a diverse team of more than 20 proposal professionals, including 4+ direct reports
• Maintain and/or create systems and processes to meet or exceed the team's historical win rate of 65% in a high-growth, fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Deepen the Bids & Proposals team's relationships with CA subject matter experts and leaders-including Sales, Government Relations, Product, Professional Development, Contracts, Account Management, Technology, and Finance-to better position us to meet our annual goals through compelling, bespoke Request for Proposal and adoption submissions
• Continue the long-standing tradition of producing ethical, equitable, factual, client-centric, human proposals that help CA stand out from the competition
Who we're looking for:
• Superior, inclusive personnel management and mentoring skills
• Proven experience leading teams of proposal development professionals
• Experience supporting complex sales cycles, with demonstrated ownership of all aspects of proposal development
• Ability to communicate to and influence all levels of the organization, including executive leadership
• Ability to problem-solve in an energetic, creative, collaborative, high-confidence, low-ego, and ethical manner
• Ability to maintain a calm, productive work culture in a deadline-driven, multi-faceted environment
Minimum qualifications:
• 8+ years' experience in K-12 education technology / publishing
• 12+ years' professional experience in a direct proposal-related role
• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
• Mastery of MS Office suite Adobe Pro, SharePoint, and other standard business applications;
Preferred qualifications:
• Qvidian experience a plus
Writing samples required as part of the application process.
