What's the role?
Responsible for the leadership and performance of the Investment Products and Services Consultation desk as well as for providing leadership for driving special project initiatives throughout Distribution Services as a whole. Integrates multiple product lines and services (annuities, mutual funds, managed products, business retirement markets, and advisory services) with practice management models and approaches for the Field. Assures that a strategic approach is used in the integration of systems, processes, field communications and multiple product areas, within IPS, agency/Life/LTC/DI. Serve as a resource for other departments with respect to IPS activity.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Recommends the strategic direction and goals of the IPS sales desk to meet business objectives including planning goals, service levels, planning and sales, consultation approach, process, and integration of work within FPSS/organization.
- Aligns strategies, projects, and plans from across the enterprise that impact Planning and Sales.
- Drives special projects assigned by the executive team for the Distribution Services department. Serves as a leader on projects related to the strategies of the department and as a liaison between the project teams and the steering committee.
- Oversees the day to day responsibilities of the IPS sales desk and full responsibility for the execution of the operating plan.
- Builds an effective team committed to meeting departmental and organization goals. Fosters collaboration among team members and teams and creates a strong morale and spirit while hiring, coaching and developing staff
- Motivates others by assessing motivators of team members in order to achieve success. Creates a climate where employees can be successful
- Represents FPSS within Enterprise Operations while building and maintaining relationships with leadership teams across products, field staff, agencies and operations
- Supports the enterprise efforts impacting field education and sales growth by educating staff and helping to effectively lead change
- Leads and delivers education to the field on planning and product sales concepts and investment tools and software.

- Bachelor's degree with emphasis on business, marketing, finance or other related areas
- Minimum of 10 years of sales management in a proactive sales environment including significant experience with staffing, training and development, project management and benchmarking.
- Series 7 required.
- Demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically.
- Includes ability anticipate future consequences and trends accurately, broad knowledge and perspective; ability to articulate and paint credible pictures and vision of operational approaches to address the proactive sales consultation environment of the sales desk.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead and execute complex projects with cross-departmental impact.
- Includes managing scope, risk and business value.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate staff from various functions through leading and influencing..
- Creative, critical and flexible in solving problems with new technologies, processes and practices that impact both internal and external clients
- Industry designations (e.g., FLMI, CLU, ChFC) and or advanced degree highly desirable.
