Job Summary:
The Government Account Executive (AE) position is primarily focused on public sector revenue generation through natural gas and electric sales, as well as incremental revenue generation through our growing suite of Advisory Products and Services. This individual will be responsible for managing the entire Government RFP process internally. The main responsibilities include: review and analyze Government RFPs with tight deadlines, while navigating internal checklists, managing stakeholders and collaborating with subject matter experts. The chosen candidate must be a self-starter, extremely organized and be able to adhere to strict time constraints. In addition, the role involves building customer relationships, building broker/consultant relationships, renewing contracts, identifying, developing and closing new sales prospects and sources of business. This position will work closely with Sales, Pricing, Credit, Legal and Customer Operations teams, although this position may interact with all areas within DE Business. In addition to DE Business relations, this position will interact with electric and gas utilities.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing/overseeing all electric and natural gas bids assigned to the government sales team.
  • Maintain and renew accounts while building relationships. Solve any potential customer issues.
  • Meet or exceed sales program metrics for renewal rates and margins.
  • Prepare proposals, generate contracts and ensure accuracy of all details prior to processing.
  • Interact directly with consultants and customers; provide an outstanding customer experience, deliver market intelligence related to customer pricing and perform account analysis.
  • Handle all assigned customers/consultants/sales agents and coordinate responses to RFPs. Ensure proper communication is maintained with regional sales managers, account managers, sales support team and operations support groups.
  • Collaborate with Customer Sales Analysts and other teams on post sale customer support.
  • Utilize Government subscriptions and other platforms to identify and expand new business pipeline.
  • Gather and communicate competitive feedback to regional teams post RFP submission.
  • Work on special projects as needed.


Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment 1-2 days per week
  • Ability to travel as needed, 10%


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a sales (or related area) or a customer facing role that required a strong technical, organized and attention to detail skillset
  • Exhibited experience in making commercial judgments in the area of structured energy products


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the changing power/gas market landscape and the impact of renewables and other key market fundamentals
  • Basic understanding of energy supply agreements, contract language and products
  • Ability to educate customers on pricing and application of competitive advantages to meet or exceed customer needs.
  • Analyze data and present insights for customers that challenge the way they think about energy procurement
  • Display professional demeanor and appearance to act as a positive representative of the company in front of clients and in the local business community, as needed.

  • Proactive, ambitious, self-starter that can work in a fast pasted environment
  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented with the ability to work in a high-volume work setting and meet tight deadlines
  • Aggressive, competitive but able to work as a team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to independently take on new and unfamiliar tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a commitment to customer service
  • Quantitative, analytical and commercial problem-solving skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and internet search engines
