Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Commercial/Revenue Officer, the Sales Director — Financial Institutions, APAC will drive revenue growth and strategic customer engagement across priority APAC markets from a base in Hong Kong. The role focuses on structured products and OTC derivatives software, leading enterprise sales into banks, brokers, private banks, and wealth managers, while cultivating partnerships and accelerating adoption of WSD’s platforms across Greater China, Southeast Asia, North Asia, and Australia.  

Sales Leadership:  

  • Develop and execute an APAC go-to-market by country and segment (Tier1/2 institutions), with quantified targets for pipeline coverage, win rates, ACV/ARR, and expansion; build and coach a high performing regional team over time in Hong Kong/Singapore 

Market Penetration:  

  • Identify and prioritize target financial institutions, including banks, credit unions, investment firms, and other relevant entities.  
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified leads and opportunities through strategic networking, prospecting, and relationship management.  

Relationship Building:  

  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with key decision-makers, executives, and stakeholders within financial institutions.  
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and customer success, to ensure alignment and maximize customer satisfaction.  

Problem Solving:  

  • Own commercial outcomes post-sale, coordinating with Customer Success on escalations, SLAs, UAT, and go-live plans to ensure satisfaction and retention.  

Solution Selling: 

  • Advise on document generation, pre/post-trade workflows, order and lifecycle management; translate complex requirements into clear solution value on WSD platforms; lead effective demos, presentations, and workshops.  

Negotiation and Closing:  

  • Lead complex, multistakeholder enterprise deals, including InfoSec, Legal, Procurement, data residency, and commercial terms; coordinate closely with Legal and Finance to ensure accurate and efficient execution. 

 

Market Insights:  

  • Track regional regulation, market dynamics, and competitive moves to refine country strategies and identify new growth opportunities; feed structured insights into product roadmap and marketing. 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Finance, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.  
  • Proven track record of at least 7-10 years within a Tier 1 Bank, preferably directly working on a structured products desk.  
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills in English required. Cantonese and/or Mandarin strongly preferred; Japanese or Korean is a plus depending on focus markets; adept at operating across time zones and cultures. 
  • Deep understanding of the financial institutions, stakeholder management including regulatory compliance, technology trends, and all associated pain points.  
  • Ability to travel as needed to attend industry events, client meetings, and company headquarters.
