Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking an EHS Manager at our aerospace manufacturing facility in St Cosme en Vairais, Sarthe, France.

The Saint Cosme en Vairais plant: 500 employees, 110 M€ turnover/ year with machining, surface treatment and mechanical processes.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of the site leadership team, you contribute to the definition and deployment of the strategy within your area of responsibility, in close collaboration with management. You lead and organize all activities and resources (people, systems, and technical means) related to your scope, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement.
You act as a key advisor to General Management on all Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) matters, supporting the definition and implementation of the company’s EHS policy, including occupational safety, working conditions, and environmental protection.
You are responsible for ensuring the effectiveness, compliance, and continuous improvement of the EHS Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, as well as internal Howmet requirements.
More precisely:
- Identify, investigate, and analyze incidents, non-conformities, unsafe conditions, and operational deviations; determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- you manage, review, and update the site risk assessment documentation (Document Unique / DUERP).
- Prepare, coordinate, and lead CSSCT meetings and support employee representative bodies on EHS topics.
- Deliver and coordinate internal EHS training sessions and awareness programs to strengthen the site safety culture.
- Manage our own team (1 Environment Manager, 2 Environment Technicians, 2 Safety Coordinators)
- Monitor budgets and forecasts related to the EHS function, analyze deviations, and implement appropriate corrective actions when necessary.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and KPIs related to EHS performance, strategic objectives, and ongoing projects for management review.
- Foster strong cross-functional communication and collaboration between departments to ensure efficient and effective site operations.

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on EHS professional with strong leadership capabilities and a continuous improvement mindset. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in a fast-paced industrial environment and capable of balancing strategic vision with operational execution.
The successful candidate should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization and foster a strong safety culture across the site.
Preferred Background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environment, Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field.
- Significant experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience managing ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
- Previous experience in team management and cross-functional project leadership
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, metallurgy, or other highly regulated industrial sectors would be appreciated.
- Strong organizational skills, autonomy, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
