THE ROLE

As a React Native Engineer, you’ll play a key role in crafting a world-class playback experience. Our mission is to deliver smooth, reliable, and delightful video playback. You'll work closely with the Playback team, ensuring all types of content play flawlessly and transitions between them are lightning-fast. You’ll also help build a modern, intuitive On-Screen Display (OSD) that puts the user in control.
THE WATCH EXPERIENCE TEAM
The Watch Experience Team is a cross-functional frontend squad focused on delivering the best possible viewing experience. Our mission is to ensure users can watch any type of stream, any way they want — with smooth transitions, fast response times, and an intuitive interface that just works.
We own all front-end aspects related to playback, including the On-Screen Display (OSD) and its related functionalities, as well as the channel list, menu, casting options, and PIN handling. Our work spans everything the user interacts with while watching content, making us key to how viewers experience and control playback.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Integrate and collaborate with our Playback team to ensure optimal video performance across all content types
- Build a rich, responsive Playback Experience using React Native
- Focus on performance, stability, and smooth transitions between different types of video content
- Work cross-functionally with video engineers, designers, and product managers to shape the future of the watch experience
- Help us push the limits of what’s possible in a cross-platform playback UI
- Write automated tests to ensure code reliability
- Write technical documentation
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- 3+ years of professional experience with JavaScript and TypeScript
- Solid experience with React Native and frameworks related to React Native, including React, Redux, and React Navigation.
- A strong focus on testing, including experience with UI testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress/Playwright, and/or Appium)
- A keen eye for user experience, motion, and performance
- Familiarity with video playback concepts (bonus if you've worked with video players or streaming SDKs)
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
Bonus:
- Experience with native app development (Swift, Objective-C, Java/Kotlin) and/or web technologies (HTML, CSS, Web APIs, NodeJS).
- Experience with accessibility, particularly in compliance with the European Accessibility Act.
- Experience building apps for native frameworks or Web TVs

Founded in 2005, we have more than 250 employees and are headquartered in Zurich with another location in Berlin and remote presences in Europe and North America.
