JOB TITLE: Purchaser
JOB SUMMARY
This role is responsible for maintaining daily purchasing activities using the forecast and MRP. Must have a deep knowledge of manufacturing, inventory and supply chain management.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Purchaser/Buyer
  • At least 1 year of experience working in inventory and supply chain management

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MRP software
  • Preferred QuickBooks experience
  • Excellent foresight and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently

CORE DUTIES

  • Maintain daily purchasing activities using the forecast and MRP
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
  • Managing supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc.
  • Work with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal departments
  • Stay current with existing and upcoming projects (attend weekly project meetings)
  • Maintain open purchase orders/backorders and ensure accuracy
  • Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation
  • Coordinating with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs
  • New item creation in QuickBooks
  • Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications
  • Working to improve purchasing systems and processes
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors
  • Negotiate lower pricing
  • Search and source potential suppliers and vendors
  • Provide reports for management
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis and benchmarking
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate risks of current market/economy trends that may affect demand

HOURS

  • 1st shift position
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Overtime as needed

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates that accept an offer of employment will be required to pass a background and drug screen. Candidates must also meet ATF requirements for firearm possession.
