About the role:
As part of the Workplace team, the Workplace Project Manager will play a critical role managing complex projects that support Opendoor’s workplace and employee experience needs. This role is responsible for developing and overseeing project timelines, executing on key project tasks, controlling assigned budgets, monitoring progress and keeping stakeholders informed of project’s goals. This role will coordinate and complete a variety of Workplace projects, including construction, relocations, renovations and expansion, location decommissioning as well as support for events, employee programs and developing business needs.
They will determine and coordinate design elements in collaboration with the Director of Real Estate and Workplace including project scope and project budget throughout the lifecycle of the project. The perfect candidate should be able to visualize scale and opportunity of process, is highly skilled in process flow/SOP development, and able to find lean and efficient ways to solve problems.
We're open to this individual being based in the San Fransisco Bay area CA, Phoenix AZ metro, Dallas TX metro or Atlanta GA metro.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Develop and execute Workplace projects aimed at improving or growing our facilities, enhancing our employees’ onsite experience and supporting critical business needs.
- Identify a need or area of improvement and develop the project lifecycle from initial stage through planning, design, execution, and finally handover to the operations team.
- Ensure all projects align with Opendoor’s operating principles, employee experience standards and safety requirements.
- Successfully oversee all aspects of the project, set deadlines, assign responsibilities and monitor and summarize project progress.
- Engage stakeholders and those affected by the project to ensure they understand and approve the coming changes and how it will impact them. Prepare reports for key stakeholders and site leadership regarding the status of the project.
- Assemble and manage the project team, both internal teammates and external suppliers or contractors, to bring the project to reality. Must demonstrate strong leadership, collaboration and mentorship to successfully manage the project team and ensure onsite and under budget performance.
- Collect, analyze, and problem solve requirements through the execution and monitoring stages of the project.
- Manage selection and procurement of design finishes that align with overall project goals as well as Opendoor design standards
- Manage the project budget, including how the funds are allocated and incorporate change orders.
- Demonstrate agility by leading projects to better operationalize Workplace Team programs.
- Iterate on existing processes for continuous improvement and optimization of future projects.
- Maintain documentation for all Workplace Team processes.
Job qualifications and requirements:
- Experience planning and developing scope, executing and documenting tasks, and rolling out projects with cross departmental impact.
- Ability to be extremely detail oriented while also focusing on the big picture.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills and a track record for executing and auditing work.
- Ability to gain alignment and represent a common point of view across multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail, confidentiality, time management, interpersonal, communication, presentation, organization, decision-making, and planning skills.
- Willingness to roll up their sleeves and be hands on.
- Strong project management experience, minimum of 3 years of project management or comparable skills preferred.
- Experience with project management software.
- Project management certification preferred.
