The P&C Technical Publications group provides aftermarket support for new and existing commercial and military aircraft programs through various forms of maintenance documentation and data. The documentation typically consists of component maintenance manuals/publications (CMMs/CMPs), service bulletins (SBs), aircraft maintenance manuals/publications (AMMs/AMPs), and structured provisioning data (T-Files). These aftermarket deliverables are critical for our customers to operate and maintain their aircraft.

This position is for an Project Lead who manages the development and sustainment of commercial and military technical publications. The position requires a highly motivated individual and will offer interaction/exposure to a variety of internal/external customers, including engineering, program management, quality, supply chain, original equipment manufacturers (OEM), and aircraft operators. This is a challenging role and will offer the right candidate a great opportunity to demonstrate their leadership and project management skills.

This position is Remote.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development and revision of new and existing technical data deliverables for commercial and military aircraft programs within the Power & Controls (P&C) Strategic Business Unit (SBU), including Component Maintenance Manuals/Publications (CMMs/CMPs), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs) and provisioning data (T-Files).
  • Interact with key stakeholders as part of a cross-functional project team, including program management, engineering, quality, supplier management, MRO, legal, contracts, Global Trade, original equipment manufacturers (OEM), and aircraft operators
  • Participate in contract reviews to ensure program and project requirements are met including delivery milestones, budget, industry standards (S1000D, ATA iSpec2200, Spec2000, ATA100, and military specifications), and customer requirements.
  • Create publication project plans in support of program proposals and cost estimates and use plans to manage project details including Earned Value Management and identification of risks and opportunities
  • Develop Statements of Work (SOWs) and review bids received from vendors and make selections of writing resources in order to achieve program and project requirements
  • Provide technical guidance through review and analysis of engineering documentation and its impact to the technical publication.
  • Drive delivery performance and quality from vendors, internal resources, and suppliers
  • Provide regular status updates on deliverables to internal and external customers
  • Lead and participate in continuous process improvement projects
  • Ensure compliance with Collins Aerospace EHS and Ethical Policies and with Federal, State and local laws


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 + years of experience in related field and 2+ years of experience in project or program management in a technical field.
  • Project management experience, including risk analysis, scheduling, and earned value management
  • Experience working with external and internal customers.
  • Experience with office productivity tools (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and PDF applications
  • Technical or aerospace aftermarket and/or customer support experience
  • Experience with principles and application of continuous improvement; Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) apprentice or equivalent Six Sigma green belt level
  • An understanding of aerospace industry standards, especially ASD S1000D, ATA iSpec2200, Spec2000, ATA100, and military specifications
  • Direct experience with Collins Aerospace products and services, especially those pertaining to aftermarket/customer service
  • Previous commercial and/or military technical publication development experience, within the aerospace industry
  • Willing and able to travel when needed
