Technical Program Manager - Triage

at Motional

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

We are currently seeking a Technical Program Manager to join the Engineering Program Management Office (EPMO) and support the growing Triage team. The Triage team plays a critical role in maintaining a high level of system quality and vehicle behavior for our autonomous driving technology. In this role, you will plan and manage Triage team projects, regularly engage with stakeholders to review and improve system performance, report status, and ensure issue priorities are aligned with program and organizational objectives.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Partner with Triage team leads to establish and document project plans, including timelines and milestones, team roadmaps, that align with team and program objectives
  • Lead project execution, working closely with the Triage team on project deliverables and prioritization of activities
  • Monitor and control project work, proactively manage risks, and manage any necessary project changes
  • Identify stakeholders and manage cross-team dependencies
  • Communicate program status and metrics to Executive leadership regularly
  • Support the implementation and optimization of Triage processes
  • Maintain a strong technical understanding of the projects across the entire product development lifecycle
  • Collaborate closely with autonomy, platform infrastructure, hardware, safety, testing, and operations teams
  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment across multiple time zones with strong communication and collaboration

What We're Looking For:

  • BA/BS/MS degree in a science or engineering field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of project management experience
  • Experience managing complex fast-paced software and hardware development spanning multiple teams and organizations, often with conflicting priorities and schedules
  • Experience with software release management and release testing
  • Works well with ambiguity
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and able to formulate solutions quickly 
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong understanding of Atlassian toolchain, Microsoft Project, and other project management tools/processes

Bonus Points (not required):

  • Experience in the automotive industry or with Autonomous Driving technology
  • Experience with safety critical development (FDA, FAA, Automotive, Aerospace)
  • Experience with systems engineering methodologies and system analysis principles
