Technical Program Manager, Software Reliability

Our Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, our fully autonomous ride-hailing service, as well as Waymo Via, our trucking and local delivery service. To date, Waymo has driven over 20 million miles autonomously on public roads across 25 U.S. cities and conducted over 20 billion miles of simulation testing.

In this role, you’ll:
- Own and drive the engineering reliability of Waymo’s trucking fleet
- Lead Software reliability engineering efforts: a cross-functional team of engineers and product managers to identify our biggest reliability issues and start-up programs/processes to eliminate them as quickly as possible
- Oversee both hardware and software reliability in order to represent the current state of each system and the path to improvement. This will include prioritize / manage / drive issues, risks and dependencies; resolve misalignments with overall scope and schedule, and represent the program to senior leadership and partner with them in closing out major issues.
- Proactively identify and eliminate risks and represent the team and drive creation or improvements in cross-functional processes
At a minimum we’d like you to have:
- BA/BS degree in technical field
- 5-15 years of experience in Technical Program Management - orchestrating complex technical software projects
- Experience leading programs involving machine learning or an operating knowledge of software development using machine learning
- Exceptional communication skills to inffluence, collaborate, and deliver solutions in a highly complex, always-changing environment
- Passionate about self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world
It’s preferred if you have:
- Experience with programs where software and hardware interact
- Experience executing projects involving computer vision or machine learning
- Experience driving the continuous/ongoing performance evaluation of highly complex systems
