Job DescriptionA Technical Program Manager (TPM) 2 is part of a key team of Technology professionals, managing technical programs that deliver significant business value to Nordstrom and its customers. The TPM 2 partners with business and technology stakeholders to develop, design, build and launch technology solutions. This position interacts with people in both business and technical roles to create specifications and resolve issues with an eye toward continuous improvement. This position works across department and functional lines on a variety of programs that range in scope, risk and complexity.

Nordstrom’s Gift Card, Loyalty and Marketing Technology Programs support various offer types that drive merchandise sales that incentivize customers to shop with us as an authority in the fashion industry. As a TPM 2 you will drive technical design and implementation of key roadmap features to increase the customer activation and acquisition targets as it related to trips and spend. You will also ensure that the Technology platform meets Key performance and Service Level Agreements to ensure optimal customer experience.

A day in the life…

Combines full understanding of concepts, theories and principles of Program Management with technical insights to solve practical needs of the business while managing moderately complex programs

As Subject Matter Expert, demonstrate understanding of system functionality within area of responsibility; how it interacts with partner systems; and, data flow patterns between upstream and downstream partner systems.

Proactively works with technical stakeholders on solution technical designs, addressing program dependencies, mitigating risks, negotiating schedules, with clear communication to partners and leadership.

Works with engineering manager and engineering teams to ensure speed and quality of delivery, manage resource planning; validates engineering effort estimates for delivery of solutions

Balances trade-offs between short-term iteration and longer-term architectural, infrastructural, and strategic planning.

Possesses knowledge of technology (e.g. Cloud, APIs, services, Windows stack, open source, database technologies, etc.)

Apply software development lifecycle (SDLC) knowledge to feature design, task estimation, design review, story creation, triage, performance standards, and sunsetting of software/system solutions

Reads basic code constructs, understands and can roughly estimate effort to complete engineering work streams

You own this if you have…

A 4-year degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience

3 + years of Program Management experience

3 + years of demonstrated successful program delivery

Demonstrate experience with E2E systems and architectural design to support top-tier large enterprise-level software/services

Experience implementing moderately complex enterprise systems with multiple dependencies

Management of programs with cross-functional stakeholders

Experience drafting technical requirements
