We are seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) with demonstrated technical capability and experience developing in an agile development framework. The TPM will work on exciting technologies such as Ultracruise, Supercruise as well as ADAS related projects! They will be responsible for cross-functional program deliverables, schedules, scope definition, execution and communication. The expectation is to possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading projects and have a well-rounded technical background in sophisticated automotive technologies. In addition, the technical side of the role is critical and will be encouraged to roll up the sleeves and dig into the technical details as required.
The successful candidate will need to anticipate bottlenecks/roadblocks, escalate to management as required, make tradeoffs and balance technical and business needs of the program. This role is the center of excellence for design and development of Automated Driving Mapping Software at GM.
Responsibilities Include:
- Lead multi-functional development of program scope, deliverables, timelines, and execution
- Define work packages within the HMI software domain
- Work with leadership to define level of effort, resource requirements and summary of timing plans.
- Plan and manage sprints in harmony with technical leads and management
- Coordinate program reviews; communicating project status and top engineering issues to project team and management
- Understand and communicate complex, technical and engineering issues
- Lead design reviews and approve design milestones and criteria
- Supports the development of HMI software requirements
- Communicates, coordinates, and consults with engineering departments and customers
Additional Description
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering project and resource management experience (PMP, DFSS, OPEX)
- Experience with project planning and tracking (Jira/RTC) as well as requirements design and management (DOORS/DNG)
- Experience with Git or similar version control systems and structured file formats such as XML, JSON
- Familiarity with the Agile software development process and Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP)
- Strong organizational, leadership, negotiation, problem solving and communications skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10 years of automotive engineering experience with C++, Python, Embedded SW systems
- Experience with agile development SW toolchain (Jenkins, Docker, Linux OS)
- Experience with robotics, automated driving SW stacks
- Design/Development of Safety Critical Systems/Components
Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite monthly.
