Job Description

The Workday team within HR Technology designs, implements, and supports our Workday ecosystem for our workforce. The Technical Program Manager 2 partners with stakeholders to develop, design, build and launch technology solutions and programs that deliver significant business value to Nordstrom and its customers. This position interacts with people in both business and technical roles to create specifications and resolve issues with an eye toward continuous improvement, working across department and functional lines on a variety of programs that range in scope, risk and complexity.
As the TPM 2 - Workday, you will work with a team of Engineers (integration and configuration) supporting the Workday ecosystem utilized across our retail stores, distribution/fulfillment centers, and corporate offices currently supporting 640,000+ workers. You will work closely with our Product Management team, Business partners, HR, Engineering Leadership, Compliance and Security to define the team's roadmap and plans for delivery of innovative and high-quality-features. A day in the life...

  • Combines full understanding of delivery and design concepts, theories and principles with business insights and manages moderately complex programs
  • Knows who customers are and communicates technical requirements to dependent teams. Defines requirements in both technical and business terms that inform the success of programs
  • Uses customer lens to create data measurements to quantify measures for success and recognizes gaps in technical and operational Key Performance Indicators
  • Possesses base-level knowledge of technology (e.g. Cloud, APIs, micro-services, open-source, database technologies, etc.)
  • Applies a broad understanding of end-to-end capability and engineering lifecycle to feature design, task estimation, design review, story creation, triage, schedule and performance standards
  • Reads basic code constructs, understands and identifies estimates of effort to complete engineering work streams
  • Presents demos and communicates status updates, risk/mitigation strategies down the pyramid through Director level
  • Anticipate and remove blockers that are impeding the team's success
  • Ensure application/system health, striving for minimal defects and downtime
  • Performs and facilitates Agile activities and ceremonies including user story creation, standups, grooming, sprints, design reviews, sprint demos, and retros


You own this if you have...

  • A 4-year degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience
  • 3 + years of Project or Technical Program Management experience
  • 3 + years of demonstrated successful program delivery
  • Management of programs with cross-functional stakeholders

Salary Band for Colorado ONLY - $99,000- $153,500 DOR + plus bonus and generous benefit package
