Job Summary

AECOM is looking for a Strategic Growth Program Manager to support our team's Decarbonization, and Transmission and Distribution portfolios through strong program management, developing strategic partnerships, and contract negotiations. The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of renewable energy deal structuring, interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements, permitting and policy issues related to providing technical services to utilities. Experience working with developers and asset owners will be key to success and demonstrated experience in these areas is required. The position will be based in the Eastern US and may also be involved with national projects.

Responsibilities for the position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Program management including projects varying in size and complexity
  • Developing and maintaining good client relationships across the portfolio
  • Solving complex and difficult commercial and technical issues with potentially significant financial impact
  • Manage primary consulting services to clients of various sizes
  • Interact with senior government or public officials and/or executive level clients on significant program matters often requiring coordination between organizations
  • Assess and manages risk on behalf of the client
  • Provide oversight and direction to AECOM PMs and other staff, client staff and subcontractors.
  • Mentor deputy program managers and early career staff
  • Cross functional responsibility for business development and program management activities associated with large scale infrastructure projects, investment in clean energy technologies including clean grid, on and offshore wind, solar, energy storage, decarbonization, EV infrastructure, decarbonization.
  • Provide consulting services for project financing, risk management and negotiating of EPC, O&M, and Interconnect Applications (IA) for new and greenfield development projects.

DCS-Energy

AECOM's Energy practice provides a wide range of services from consulting and engineering design to engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for power, energy efficiency, and renewable energy clients. Our understanding of the big picture - and the interconnection between generation, distribution, storage, and behind the meter services - allows us to deliver holistic strategies that improve and modernize next generation energy infrastructure. We connect knowledge and experience across our global framework to bring together a unique combination of engineers, planners, scientists, and project managers who advance cleaner, secure, and more sustainable energy solutions.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree and 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience
  • Experience must include previous management of infrastructure projects including utility scale and C&I solar, energy storage, wind, renewable fuels, decarbonization consulting, electrification of transportation, and transmission and distribution (T&D) projects
  • Experience leading the development and implementation of project execution plans in support of the successful execution of the project or program
  • Experience leading a diverse team of professionals including, but not limited to: project managers, construction managers, project controls professionals, estimating, public outreach, procurement professionals, environmental professionals, consultants, owners engineering, safety professionals, risk management etc.
  • Project and client management experience including management of multiple projects of significant scope and complexity

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience
  • Master's degree in technical or business discipline
  • Experience with regional and national utilities, independent system operators (ISOs) and regulatory agencies
  • Experience with HVDC technologies
  • PE license
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Experience managing and negotiating transmission level grid interconnects with developers, ISOs, utilities, and regulatory agencies
  • High Voltage power engineering and/or construction related experience
  • Technical and strategic advisory experience in decarbonization and transition to clean grid based infrastructure
  • Strong relationships with construction companies and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with relevant business impact
  • Extensive experience in contract negotiation, risk mitigation and change management Experience managing large scale EPC contracts

  • Travel is required for this position
