Job Summary

AECOM has an opening for a Strategic Growth Program Manager to support our growing Energy Business Line with a specific focus across the Metro New York Region. The Program Manager will support business development and support the implementation of a broad range of Energy markets which include, Grid modernization, Decarbonization, Electrification, Renewables and New Fuels. Focusing on the New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania markets. AECOM's clients include private and public utilities; municipal, county, and state bureaus; developers; financial institutions, and other large public and private customers.

The qualified candidate will be responsible or developing and implementing the New York Metro regional growth strategy for AECOM's energy business. The leader will define the growth plans for the various market sectors and cultivate private and public client relationships that result in business growth surrounding the Energy industry. Market focus includes, Grid Modernization (Transmission and Distribution, Microgrids), Renewables (solar, wind), Decarbonization and Electrification. Candidate will focus on developing business to provide professional services supporting regional clients by providing planning, engineering, consulting, project management, program, and construction management.

Success in this position requires a dynamic individual with high energy and motivation, an acute passion for developing solutions, a current understanding of local and regional regulatory structures and system operators, knowledge of the current pipeline of regional market levers and the ability to collaborate with a strategic interdisciplinary team of operations and business development professionals.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, creative problem-solving, collaboration and leadership skills

  • Proven ability to collaborate with a strategic interdisciplinary team of business development and project professionals

The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Develop and implement multi-year growth strategy, including development of key performance metrics, client account plans, service offerings, market trend analysis and brand elevation/thought leadership
  • Knowledge of upcoming energy transformation opportunities and an understanding of local regulatory procedures
  • Existing relationships with regional private and public electricity utilities, commercial & industrial clients, and developers
  • The ability to identify, develop, and propose new projects; negotiate partnerships and alliances; structure and close transactions; manage senior-level relationships internally and externally; and maintain a sharp focus on client satisfaction throughout project/program lifecycle
  • Build collaborative solutions for clients across AECOM business lines
  • Help recruit and build a team of professionals to support the growth strategy
  • Establish and develop relationships with regional public utilities, investor-owned utilities, developers, contractors and municipalities
  • Proven ability to support Energy projects and programs during execution and implementationDCS-EnergyAECOM's Energy practice provides a wide range of services from consulting and engineering design to engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for power, energy efficiency, and renewable energy clients. Our understanding of the big picture - and the interconnection between generation, distribution, storage, and behind the meter services - allows us to deliver holistic strategies that improve and modernize next generation energy infrastructure. We connect knowledge and experience across our global framework to bring together a unique combination of engineers, planners, scientists, and project managers who advance cleaner, secure, and more sustainable energy solutions

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Engineering, Construction, Science or closely related field with 8 years of relevant experience within the Energy industry or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects and/or programs with high quality on schedule and within scope and budget
  • Experience with compliance related to local laws of energy transition.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with utility energy efficiency, renewable energy, and decarbonization programs.
  • Current understanding of local and regional regulatory structures surrounding the energy transition
  • Experience in and knowledge of the grid modernization, renewable energy, utility and distributed energy resource markets as well as policy and market trends supporting the transformation of the energy industry
  • Demonstrated networking capabilities with public and private clients, power and energy industries, from inception through contract award and implementation
  • An understanding of multiple project delivery/financing methods and the associated risks and benefits of each (Specific experience a plus)
  • Demonstrated successful financial closing of multiple energy programs and consulting projects (e.g. T&D, distributed energy resources and renewables)
  • Knowledge of the financial, technical and political aspects driving both the energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, smart energy and utility industries and energy infrastructure development (Utility energy efficiency programs, statewide energy planning, building optimization, data analytics and renewables and, energy conservation measures)

-Strong understanding of compliance related to various local laws of energy use and building design guidelines including but not limited to NY City local law 31, 32, 33, 84, 87, 94, 97, 151.

  • Experience working on offshore wind development projects and programs
