About the Role
Fundamentally, TPMs at Uber help bridge the gap between larger company-wide objectives and distill them down to team specific priorities and programs. In doing so, TPMs help guide and lead teams to deliver complex and strategic cross-functional projects, which are often business critical with tight deadlines. You will be the glue between the teams, the priorities and the objectives. You will need to be intuitive, insightful and organized. You will need to be an expert communicator to effectively develop relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and break through any communication barriers and challenges. You will build trust across the organization and help align teams to a unified goal. You will need to find the balance between being direct and acting with empathy and integrity.
What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points
What the Candidate Will Do:

  • Work as the primary point of contact for sophisticated, cross functional programs under the Leading the IaaS Capacity Management portfolio supporting zone builds and decommissioning projects.
  • Lead communications and coordination across various infrastructure teams as well as partner teams to drive alignment, visibility and progress
  • Define program scope, develop achievements and execute throughout the duration of the program
  • Build and communicate accurate program status and increase transparency and awareness while keeping stakeholders engaged and up to date with the program.
  • Review overall design plan, prepare options analysis in conjunction with discipline engineers and Procurement to ensure optimal operational and cost parameters are met.
  • Be responsible for driving the development of detailed designs, construction, successful commissioning, close-out, and hand-off to operations
  • Align with Finance to gain approval for projects and supervise projects against their budgets
  • Understand changes in capacity and how they relate to data center builds and decoms

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Computer Science.
  • 7+ years of relevant infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Proven background in Data center deployment, network and electrical systems as they relate to the data center.
  • Passionate about system architecture and supporting operations of distributed systems at hyper scale.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the server onboarding lifecycle
  • Understanding of data center operational processes.
  • Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and able to apply them where best suited.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and exceptional emotional intelligence demonstrated through an ability to influence and motivate and connect with stakeholders of various organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational skills to balance many tasks without losing sight of the highest priority items.
  • Analytical and truth seeking. Ability to understand complex concepts and make reasoned technical decisions objectively.
  • Experienced knowledge of datacenter zone builds and decommission supporting facility commissioning to planning and landing hardware.
