About the Role
The Uber Metal Business Operations serves many functions supporting Infrastructure. The team supports the following pillars: Infra as a Service (IaaS) Capacity Management, Hardware Fleet Management, and Business Financial Management. This role's focus is within the Fleet Management pillar supporting the ongoing reliability and performance of the fleet through data driven leadership and prioritization of efforts specifically with a focus on low level (BIOS, Kernel, FW) system performance.

What the Candidate Will Do:
Fundamentally TPMs at Uber help bridge the gap between larger company wide objectives and distill them down to team specific priorities and program. In doing so, TPMs help guide and lead teams to deliver complex and strategic cross-functional projects, which are often business critical with tight deadlines. You will be the glue between the teams, the priorities and the objectives. You will need to be intuitive, insightful and organized. You will need to be an expert communicator to effectively develop relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and break through any communication barriers and challenges. You will build trust across the organization and help align teams to a unified goal. You will need to find the balance between being direct and acting with empathy and integrity. Specifics of this role include the following:
• Work as the primary point of contact for complex, cross functional programs under the Fleet Management pillar• Lead communications and coordination across various infrastructure teams as well as partner teams to drive alignment, transparency and progress • Define program scope, develop milestones and execute throughout the duration of the program • Create and communicate accurate program status and increase visibility and awareness while keeping stakeholders engaged and up to date with the program. • Introduce and drive process for moving new HW products introductions through product life cycle phases post PVT validation through end of life incorporating activities for various partner teams. • Defining and leading various initiatives that support new product introduction (NPI) transition to operations and sustaining programs focused on HW fleet reliability for Bios, Firmware, Kernel configurations; drift management and rollout of updates.• Lead various programs supporting reductions in hardware Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) such as improving diagnostics tooling, auto remediation and repeat offender detection• Review and assess HW repair information through ticket and platform team feedback to propose opportunities to enhance the repair process and associated tooling•
Basic Qualifications:
• BS degree in Computer Science or related engineering field.• 5+ years of relevant infrastructure engineering experience.• Solid background in HW and SW principles.• Passion about system architecture and building distributed systems at hyper scale.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to write detailed design documents.
