The Scrum Master will provide support to enhance the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Engineering Enterprise program office using SAFe Scrum practices. The Scrum Master will collaborate with engineers and others to capture tasks and deliverables coordinating efforts between teams and identify potential improvements to the processes and supporting systems. The incumbent will participate in the development of an enterprise-wide system-of-systems engineering effort between the element weapon system program offices and the MDS system offices ensuring that the program offices are integrated and aligned working with weapon system contractors to deliver desired capabilities.

Candidate will operate primarily out of a government facility supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Engineering Enterprise program.

Responsibilities and areas of support include but are not limited to the following:

Analyze engineering and program office activities to help identify ways to apply SAFe scrum practices.

Facilitate adoption of agile processes across MDA Engineering Enterprise in the Digital Engineering and Software Development DevSecOps functional areas.

Lead one or more Scrum Events: Sprint Planning, Sprint Closure, Sprint Retrospective, and Daily Scrum.

Collaborate with Product Owners to refine their backlogs, resolve any blockers experienced by the Scrum team, provide organizational implementation strategy, Agile training, and metrics.

Job Requirements

Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in STEM or a related technical field or equivalent experience and 10years practical experience as a scrum master or working agile DevSecOps methodology.

Excellent mentoring / coaching skills.

Applied experience driving a project portfolio within a digital venue (e.g., Project Management services such as Jira/Gitlab).

Active systems thinker with the ability to focus on the interrelationship of a system's constituent parts and their operation over time -- general understanding of systems engineering principles a plus.

Understanding of the Agile SDLC

Excellent problem-solving skills.

Great organizational skills with ability to assist Product Manager refine the product baseline and determine definition of done.

Practical knowledge of project/portfolio management.

Knowledge of Agile frameworks at the organizational level such as SAFe, and the small team level such as Kanban, Scrum, Extreme Programming.

SAFe Certification (e.g., SAFe Scrum Master, SAFe Advanced Scrum Master, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, SAFe DevOps)

Ability to work independently and as part of a group.

Ability to effectively participate and collaborate with functionally and geographically diverse teams of engineering professionals with differing perspectives, skills, and backgrounds.

Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders and non-agile scrum trained people, both in written and spoken forms.

Ability to provide significant contribution in the areas of creative thinking, problem solving, analytical thinking, strategic thinking and out-of-the-box thinking.

Active DoD Secret Clearance is required.

Preferred

Certified SAFe Program Consultant

Understanding of the MDS system implementation.

Previous experience in any of the MDS element or subcomponents activities.

Experience working with systems-of-systems or family-of-systems, preferably in a DoD context.

Experience in the use and analysis of data for complex systems, preferable for the MDS.

Ability to lead functionally and geographically dispersed teams of engineering professionals with differing perspectives, skills, and backgrounds.
