Job Summary:

The Sr. Project Manager / Scrum Master will support and lead multiple scrum teams in agile development and delivers projects that span across one or more business functions. Manages resources, schedules, financials and adhere to stage gate quality and NRG Enterprise Data & Analytics (ED&A) SDLC control guidelines throughout the full systems development life cycle. The responsibilities include management of issues, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time and budget project delivery. Contributes to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership by developing and motivating team to meet or exceed project goals and milestones.
  • Owns project life cycle including full implementation from initiation to deployment for multiple initiatives simultaneously using NRG Enterprise Data & Analytics (ED&A) SDLC control guidelines.
  • Manages all aspects of multiple projects to ensure the program achieves strategic objectives.
  • Demonstrates teamwork, innovation, and excellence in an analytical, problem-solving environment
  • Establishes practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature capabilities.
  • Prepares estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project.
  • Provides status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks, and issues.
  • Manages project and program expectations; delegating to team members and updating stakeholders.
  • Monitors, tracks and controls outcomes, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables.
  • Researches best practices within and outside the organization to establish benchmark data and uses continuous process improvement disciplines to achieve results.
  • Builds and maintains relationships; engages business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives.
  • Has proven experience and expertise in Agile Execution Methodology
    • Guide team and organization on Agile/Scrum practices maximize delivery of business value.
    • Guide team on self-organizing to fill intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks.
    • Participate in or facilitate sprint planning, scrums, scrum of scrums, reviews, and retrospectives
    • Assess scrum maturity of the team and organization; coach team to improve maturity.
    • Proactively identifying, managing, and communicating impediments to expedite resolution.
    • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
    • Improve internal and external communication, transparency, and information sharing.
    • Support and educate the Product Owner on refinement and maintaining product backlog.
    • Develop training to educate scrum teams to improve collaboration, planning, and delivery.


Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years as a Project Manager/Scrum Master delivering software solutions using Agile techniques.
  • Certified scrum master.
  • Competent with various software programs, including: Azure DeveOps (ADO) Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Microsoft Projects, ServiceNow, SmartSheet, Lucid Chart and CA Clarity PPM.
  • Experience tracking and planning projects with stakeholders in a cross-functional matrix environment.
  • Experience in presenting to stakeholders and / or Senior Leadership.
  • Able to deliver despite ambiguity, collaborating across functions to achieve common objectives.
  • Interpersonal skills to influence change and enhance performance in a cross - functional environment.
  • Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • As a part of the NRG commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, customers, and the community, this role requires weekly COVID-19 testing for employees who are not fully vaccinated.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in a related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Experience in SDLC Methodologies, Agile, SCRUM, SDLC / Waterfall.
  • Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
  • Experience drafting and submitting budget proposals and recommending budget changes.
  • Experience in successfully leading projects and programs to on-time, on-schedule and within budget.
  • Experience leading and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance.

  • Understands interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs. Demonstrates functional acumen so that solutions address client goals while aligning with industry best practices.
  • Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions and identifying priorities.
  • Experience presenting to executive sponsors and demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management.
  • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.
  • Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Supports diverse and inclusive work environment.


Physical Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
  • Hybrid role. Time split between remote (from home) and in office.
