Job Summary:

Disney Streaming is a business unit within The Walt Disney Company's Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) segment that oversees all consumer-facing digital video subscription services across the company. Disney Streaming is responsible for developing and operating The Walt Disney Company's direct-to-consumer video businesses globally, including the Disney+, Star+, ESPN+ and Hulu products. Its core mission is to deliver global audiences the freedom to access content on their terms across any connected device, time or location.

The Machine Learning and Innovation (MLI) team is seeking a Senior Manager, Technical Project Manager to support our team’s progress and growth. We are looking for an individual who likes to continually learn, grow, and share their knowledge with others. MLI projects focus on machine learning infrastructure and applied ML — including in-app personalization and other production service oriented ML applications. We’re seeking candidates with strong experience in management, Project Management, plan generation and have strong presentation and communication skills that can exercise good judgment and possess the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple, competing priorities. Candidates should also thrive in developing, navigating and maintaining relationships with MLI’s nearest neighbors for many cross-team collaboration projects. The team is split between the US East Coast, US West Coast and Europe and has heavy collaboration with teams in Beijing, so the ability to work in international conditions is also needed.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and effectively execute software development iterations throughout the life of projects.
• Work with the team to define activities, sequence, dependencies, work effort, duration, and associated resource requirements for projects.
• Plan and lead internal and external project communications, ensuring effective exchange of project deliverables to identify, analyze, prioritize and mitigate project risks using best practices.
• Assist with technical feasibility implementation approach, deployment strategies, and QA improvement efforts by encouraging collaboration with Product partners to refine project scope and objectives.
• Contribute to Product development activities, scheduling feature additions in iterative release cycles based on priority and importance and improve department and organization reputation by ownership of accomplishing new and different requests.
• Strategically balance priorities by understanding project architectures, tooling and business impact.
• Collaborate with the Product team and other Engineering teams to coordinate multi-team technical projects.

Basic Qualifications:

• 10+ years experience in project planning and management, ideally in an Agile environment at a master level.
• Experience managing other project managers.
• Software development knowledge and experience including APIs, reusable libraries, structured data formats, DevOps and release management processes.
• Experience in requirements documentation and data flow diagrams using Visio, Lucidchart or similar.
• Strong with JIRA, Confluence, Slack and other team/project tooling.
• Display initiative and take a proactive approach at finding ways to remove barriers and keep projects on schedule.
• You have the ability to think a couple of steps ahead and identify potential issues or opportunities.
• Developed essential soft skills vital to the Project Manager role, including but not limited to: presenting both technical and management teams, attention to detail, communication, teamwork, collaboration, flexibility, problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and motivate staff and project team.
• Experience working with cloud providers such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters Degree
• Supported full-stack development teams
• CSM or PMP certification
