Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct management and development of a team of Technical Project/Program Managers.
  • Works on complex Operation Programs from inception through production commercialization to include:
    • Manufacturing equipment automation
    • New product line implementation and transfer into manufacturing
    • Scale-up, replicate equipment qualification as well as product/production changes
  • Collaborates and drives process improvement activities that involve complex equipment or facility changes or additions with manufacturing.
  • Establish Strategies, advise and communicate project/program plan and status to management and cross functional teams.
  • Anticipates and prevents issues to schedule, resources, scope. Drives risk assessment as well as resolution.
  • Partner with Functional leaders to drive activities/tasks/resources across all departments including:
    • Technical team (Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineering), Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, Finance, Suppliers, Facilities, and others within the boundaries of an indirect reporting structure
  • Ability and confidence to run project and design reviews as well as other key meetings.
  • Responsible for compliance to medical device regulatory standards for all aspects of program.
  • Work directly with suppliers and corporate partners, as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge and work experience in Engineering, Automation, and Manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated independent successful management of complex projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership/management of direct reports.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical and business information clearly and effectively through informal and formal documents, reports, and presentations to senior management.
  • Requires technical leadership experience and an understanding of regulated change control, product development process and medical device design control manufacturing transfer.
  • Requires significant technical knowledge and an understanding of FDA/ISO regulations working with GMP's and ISO standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and Visio is required.

Preferred Qualifications: (Optional)

  • Program Management certification, i.e. PMP or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Smartsheets and/or Confluence


Functional Description

Manages people who lead cross-functional teams that are focused on the delivery of a product or computer-based system from research and development to release for customers. Develops, defines and executes project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables. Identifies needed resources for projects, defines and assigns major project roles. Monitors the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with external customers or field-based employees on technical matters, as needed. Assigns and monitors work of project/program management staff, providing technical support and direction. This position is most common in a matrix type organization and has overall product/program/project management responsibility, i.e. coordinating efforts leading to product release. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

  • Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
  • Requires the ability to effectively influence others and manage sensitive situations.

  • Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.
  • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short-term goals of the organization.


Management

  • Manages activities of two or more sections or departments.
  • Directly manages the coordination of the activities within a function/department with responsibility for results.
  • In some instances may be responsible for a functional area or contracted / outsourced employees or matrixed reports and not have any direct reports within the organization.
  • People management responsibilities include hiring / terminations, performance reviews, career development coaching, and compensation decisions.

Experience and Education

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree with 13+ years of industry experience.
  • 5-8 years of previous people management experience.


Workplace Type

  • The Workplace Type for this role is Assigned Desk. Based on the nature of your role you will have an assigned desk or office located at a Dexcom site and should plan to be onsite approximately 4-5 days per week.
