Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Manager to join our expanding team. As a Senior Manager, you will act as a liaison between Program Management, Product Design, Product Management, Engineering, and other Disney Streaming partners. You will oversee a team of wonderful program managers and play a key role in advancing the Product Design Program and educating the larger org on how to interact with UX design.
You will be a strong advocate for the team and understand that UX is only one part of the larger development cycle. Your relationships with Product, Engineering, and other Program organizations will be the key to your team's success.
What you'll do:

  • L ead a team (4-6 directs) of highly motivated product design technical program managers, while being detail-oriented and hands-on; Team members might be across offices and remote
  • Actively coach and mentor team members in agile practices, and support their career development; Lead by example and build trust
  • Promote a healthy work-life balance and put the wellness of the team first
  • Manage the activities of large or strategically important technical programs and be an active advisor for multiple teams
  • Identify and implement cross-functional solutions that will drive operational scale while maintaining creative excellence; Define operational workflows and manage the change required to move to a new workflow or operational model
  • Be a strong collaborator between partner teams such as Product & Engineering to ensure inter-dependencies are understood and planned for effectively
  • Be the voice for your team and balancing the needs of your team, our users, and leadership
  • Develop and improve the program management and planning processes for effective throughput across teams & broader workstreams
  • Partner with design leads on continuous improvement of processes and supervise team health
  • Provide clear communication to cross-functional team leads regarding Program needs, resource requirements, issues, and priorities
  • Identify risks, prioritize and collaborate with partners to resolve in a timely manner


What to bring:

  • 8+ years of technical experience with 3+ years of management experience
  • Master knowledge and experience with the software development life cycle; experience in streaming media software preferred
  • Master with project management tools, including Confluence, JIRA, Smartsheets
  • Strong knowledge and experience with SDLC
  • Experience developing and coaching teams towards shared common goals, collaborating with multiple stakeholder teams, and leading through influence, all while demonstrating strong judgment in the face of ambiguity
  • A deep-rooted passion for process excellence and operating at scale
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills and ability to distill necessary information to cross-functional partners and drive adoption of new workflows
  • Experience in user-centered design process, methodologies, and standards
  • Experience working within engineering organizations and keeping them updated on design progress
  • Proactiveness in operational improvements within and outside of your team
  • Ability to work with a distributed team, facilitating tight communications in spite of time zone differences
  • Ability to multitask, analyze opportunities, define successful approaches, and tackle problems
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Human-Centered Design or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
