Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) in Tucson, Arizona is seeking a Program Director (PD) for the Standard Missile-3 BLK IA/IB program. This is a highly visible and complex program within both RMD and the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

The PD reports directly to the Strategic Engagement Systems (SES) Program Area Director and is responsible for the overall success of the SM-3 IA/IB Program. This role will require an individual to maintain and continue to strengthen our customer relationships and create future growth opportunities through those relationships.

The SM-3 IA/IB Program Director is responsible for executing MDA and FMS production contracts, sustainment, cut-in of future capabilities, and strategic/tactical capture of future production programs. The director sets strategy, vision and direction for successful program execution focused on overall product affordability, product integrity, on-time deliveries to enable near, mid, and long term business growth.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Accountability for profit and loss, AOP and financial metrics across the SM-3 BLK IA/IB program
  • Coordinating and aligning interactions, dependencies, and transactions between SM-3 development and impacted production programs
  • Develop and execute program growth strategies for international and internal growth
  • Understands and represents customer needs to leadership
  • Shapes future acquisitions and captures new domestic and international business
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with the customer counterparts
  • Experience managing risk, opportunity, cost, quality and schedule performance


Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 14 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience in related program management to include leading efforts on a mid-size to large program
  • Demonstrated proficiency managing cost, schedule and technical performance for large scale programs with proficient use of program management tools such as Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Integrated Master Plan (IMP) / Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), Risk and Opportunity Management, Scope Board, or similar business processes
  • Proven success creating and maintaining strong executive level relationships with suppliers, customers, government representatives, US acquisition commands and internal peers
  • Experience with developing program-staffing requirements and coordinating with functional organizations
  • Working knowledge of metrics and demonstrated ability to forecast and manage financials
  • Ability to travel domestically
  • An active and in-scope secret US security clearance


Qualifications We Value:

  • Experience working with MDA, Navy and other customers on government programs (large/complex) with direct customer interfaces, both internal and external
  • Experience developing and implementing execution, coordination, and growth strategies for franchise programs
  • Demonstrated ability to work across business areas, manage diverse tasks, requirements and commitments and interface successfully with numerous disciplines
  • Ability to thrive in an innovative environment to maximize profitability by identifying opportunities across programs that share common hardware
  • Oversight and monitoring of supplier performance; develop preventive and corrective actions as necessary
  • Ensure customer performance feedback and actions/requests are responded to in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner
  • Advanced Degrees
