Job summary
The Red Hat Research team in the Office of the CTO is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will support multiple collaborative projects with academic and industry partners around the world, as well as supporting internal research projects, and student-oriented research, development and education activities like hackathons, tutorials, and student projects.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work with research project teams to develop and maintain project plans, estimates, and schedules
  • Track project deliverables against schedules
  • Work with teams and other members of the Research Group to resolve issues with schedules, resources, or deliverables
  • Contribute to Research Group's statement of yearly objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs), and support quarterly tracking and reporting of KPIs to the CTO
  • Mentor engineers and student interns in project management best practices
  • Contribute project management information to reports and proposals
  • Support Research Group teams conducting special activities like Research Day events, student workshops, hackathons etc. as needed


Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of project management experience
  • Keen interest in technology
  • Experience working with agile software development methodology and understanding of Git repositories, coding experience is not required
  • Proficient with at least one suite of project management and reporting tools; experience with open source tools is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of linux and open source projects is a plus
