About the job
The Red Hat North America (NA) Financial Services Consulting team is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for guiding and delivering Red Hat's consulting services for our top financial services customers and you will collaborate with other Red Hat's sales representatives to promote business development activities. You will develop service opportunities within the Red Hat portfolio of offerings, bringing them from presales to project delivery, including delivery processes, leading sales cycles, preparing project approach documents, proposals, and contracts that include business and technical requirements and appropriate solutions, schedules, delivery times, and costs. As a Senior Project Manager, you will serve as an active leader within the Services team, guiding change at a regional and NA level. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Become a trusted adviser who develops a communication strategy to support ongoing and regular contact with onsite customer and across multiple project teams
  • Have a key role in the organizations' agile transformation, serve as a change agent, and show great leadership skills with a positive and collaborative approach
  • Coordinate cross-functional team meetings with support, finance, sales, resource management, and other teams, with a best practice approach
  • Serve as a point of contact between the customer, Consulting, and Project Accounting teams
  • Initiate and manage complex projects effectively, including financial impact, risks, and business opportunities
  • Coordinate with the Resource Management Office (RMO) to manage staffing requirements and support project closeout resource assessment activities
  • Implement scaled agile and scrum processes and motivate product managers and product owners and management team to facilitate release planning preparedness to ensure actionable prioritized program backlog
  • Collaborate with product owners to understand and create product backlog and release plan
  • Assist with training the project team on the application of appropriate procedures and processes
  • Institute an effective change management process appropriate to the project delivery methodology by closely monitoring scope, and requests for comments (RFCs) and working with scrum teams to communicate impact of change requests prior to implementation
  • Coach members to accomplish project goals and meet established schedules
  • Monitor and facilitate scrum ceremonies, including backlog grooming, daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Be responsible for team metrics, including sprint backlog, burn-down charts, and release planning
  • Maintain professional approach while problem solving and resolving technical and operational issues
  • Develop expert knowledge of Red Hat's technologies


What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent working experience; master's degree is a plus
  • 10+ years working as a program or project manager in IT-based projects
  • Knowledge of specific industry project management and technical delivery methodologies from PMI, systems and software development, product development, and agile methodologies
  • PMI and agile certifications
  • Excellent customer-facing and people management skills
  • Ability to inspire, inspect, and adapt to culture using iterative approaches
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate project teams and individual contributors and mediate conflicts
  • Experience using various project management and agile tools
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models; expert knowledge of agile and traditional project management principles and practices and ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
  • Experience managing strategic and complex projects and interacting with business and technology individuals at all levels, including the executive level
  • Ability to manage multiple highly-complex projects, while providing frequent financial updates
