Job Summary
Physical Sciences Laboratories (PSL) has more than 100 specialized laboratories used to test, analyze, and troubleshoot virtually every aspect of rocket and satellite system design, development, construction, deployment, and operation. The diverse expertise of the laboratories’ technical staff allows PSL to stay abreast of new technological developments and program support issues associated with rapidly evolving space systems.
The Space Materials Laboratory (SML) is the corporate resource for evaluating and characterizing the different material technology needs of national security space programs. Comprising approximately of (70) scientists and engineers, SML staff has extensive experience in working with both customers and contractors to meet the challenges of national security space systems. As a Senior Project Leader your role will be to develop teams that can effectively grow the Aerospace Corporation initiative in advanced manufacturing, to include Rapid prototyping (additive manufacturing) through a combination of applied research and program support. This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA.
What You’ll Be Doing
Work within the Aerospace engineering organization to develop insight and potential synergies with our customers related to an advanced manufacturing R&D focus area
Develop and execute corporate strategies for advanced manufacturing engagement across the space community
Build multi-disciplinary teams with a goal of addressing key technologies and research needs that address manufacturing needs for different commercial sectors, reliability requirements and volume needs
Collaborate as an advance manufacturing thought leader across the Aerospace engineering matrix, program offices, and prototyping organizations
Expand Aerospace capabilities in advanced manufacturing as both principle investigator and team leader to include new commercial, customer, and academic collaborations with joint research programs and strategies
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
Advanced degree in a STEM field or equivalent
Typically (10) years of direct experience in advanced manufacturing technologies
Leadership skills to include team building, personnel development, technical influence, budget and resource planning, and mentoring
Ability to lead and work outside your personal expertise to cultivate new ideas across Aerospace and execute highly collaborative strategies that include multiple organizations
Willingness to occasionally travel domestically and to work off-business hours to support customer needs, approximately one trip per month
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
