About the job
The Red Hat People (HR) team is looking for a Senior Program Manager focused on apprenticeship programs to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work cross-functionally within the HR team and functional business to design, develop, and implement apprenticeship programs across the globe, as part of strategic career growth, capability building, and diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives. You will select providers and end-point assessment organizations to ensure that Red Hat is developing skilled and bar-raising apprentices for critical functions and roles. As a Senior Program Manager, you will also establish relationships with key internal partners and external organizations and increase the awareness of and promote Red Hat's apprenticeship programs.
What you will do

  • Partner with HR business partners, Workforce Planning and Talent Acquisition (TA) teams, and functional business stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and recommend apprenticeship program initiatives for target roles or under-represented groups
  • Assess feasibility and impact of various program intake requests using industry research and benchmarking
  • Lead the design and development of apprenticeship programs from concept through to pilot and full implementation
  • Demonstrate creative problem-solving to create innovative solutions and programming to address the needs of various audiences, including underrepresented populations, strategic third-party partnerships, and internal associates
  • Guide synergies and alignment of apprenticeship programs across regions and functions
  • Manage program life cycles from strategic planning through tactical implementation
  • Create and own the stakeholder communication strategy and plan to ensure all those involved in the successful delivery of Red Hat's apprenticeship programs are fully informed and supportive of the programs' objectives and expected outcomes
  • Educate managers and mentors on their role in supporting and developing apprentices
  • Advocate for the apprentices, ensuring where possible that barriers to success and program completion are removed
  • Measure, monitor, and report program performance, continually evaluating solutions for quality, business impact, and sustainability
  • Conduct post-learning evaluation to understand successes and improvement opportunities for the designed solutions


What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree; advanced degree is a plus
  • Previous experience developing and managing technical, D&I, role-specific, or other functional apprenticeship programs
  • 5+ years of program management experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience with learning or career development programs in global businesses
  • Expertise in designing innovative approaches and solutions using fact-based and data-driven analysis
  • Proven success in delivering large-scale complex programs under challenging deadlines and within budget
  • Excellent organizational skills, focus on results, great attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting and speaking to global stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to comfortably deal with ambiguity and apply analytical and critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with external partners and vendors to build and implement internal development programs
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders including government, education, and private sector; adept at synthesizing inputs from various stakeholders
  • Solid change management, negotiation, and persuasion skills; curiosity and ability to bring valuable insight into the business
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% to assess and ensure quality of delivery and to support and brief managers and apprenticeship program participants, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines
