The Red Hat Data Development, Insights, and Strategy team is looking for a Senior Principal Technical Program Manager to join us in Boston, MA. In this role you will be working with distinct teams with stakeholders in all facets of Red Hat's business: Engineering, Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Legal, and you will have the ownership and autonomy to lead and manage the program's most complex initiatives. We have an ambitious and exciting roadmap for 2021 and beyond. In this team, you will have an opportunity to directly influence our strategic direction and business delivery by working with data to extract complex and extraordinary ideas that tie to our core strategy.
The Data Development, Insights, and Strategy team will be a highly focused effort to use the combination of our product fleet data, our business and sales data to provide strategic insight identifying opportunities to maximize our understanding and fulfillment of product and business models which in turn maximize our ability to successfully capture our market opportunity. The Insights and Strategy group works closely with analytics, data science or machine learning, and the backend data and technology platform teams, helping create the data ecosystem that allows the company to monitor overall business performance, evaluate tests, apply machine learning models, and run and measure performance marketing campaigns.
What you will do

  • Help the teams to focus on prioritization of issues that they are working on and ensure their backlog is always kept up-to-date, keeping customer value as a top priority
  • Establish a detailed program plan with a cohesive view of data workstreams and clear milestones, dependencies, and sequencing; coordinate and manage deliverables across multiple data teams to a successful completion
  • Identify and address inefficiencies across the program that impact productivity, including Jira organization and standardization, clear documentation, and a training curriculum for new hires
  • Define and deliver mitigation plans to minimize risk
  • Play an active role by participating in technical discussions, planning sessions, and team retrospectives to understand and support your teams effectively
  • Own and manage communication of overall program status, including milestones, dependencies, and risks, to program teams, stakeholders, and executive sponsors
  • Manage stakeholders' expectations, and address any questions, concerns, or feedback


What you will bring

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with experience in creating content and positioning you as a leader in some areas or activities
  • Experience with programming, in order to appreciate and feel comfortable working with technology teams that have steep learning curves and solve hard problems

The following will be considered a plus:

  • 5+ years of technical program management experience, developing and managing detailed program plans
  • 3+ years of experience navigating large scale, complex projects and dependencies among multiple engineering or data teams
  • 3+ years of software or data engineering experience working in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or cloud environments
  • Ability to rapidly identify and communicate issues and reach a resolution
  • Ability to influence others and guide alignment among differing opinions
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and comfortable communicating at all levels in the organization
  • Solid stakeholder management skills
  • Motivated with a solid sense of ownership and a proactive member of a team, working quickly and accurately under pressure and time constraints with minimal supervision
  • Emotional intelligence
