The Role:
As Capital One continues to mature its enterprise data management and governance functions, Enterprise Data Management (EDM) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Manager to oversee the full lifecycle management of the Information and Data Management Policy and all related standards and procedures.
In this role, you will have a significant impact on the development and articulation of data management policies, which in turn supports our mission to mitigate data risk across the enterprise. The role will manage and recommend improvements to the complex process(es) by which data policies are written, socialized, approved, and communicated, and ensure these activities are aligned with Corporate Policy Office (CPO) expectations. You will have exposure across lines of business and second line partners as you ensure EDM policies are continuously aligned with the enterprise’s top strategic initiatives in data and risk management. This role will also help steer critical conversations about data governance and data risk, with the objective of creating relevant, actionable data management requirements for the enterprise.
Overall, this role will be responsible for maintaining rigor, transparency, and continuous improvement to the full lifecycle of data management policy.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the full lifecycle of policy management, including requirements gathering, drafting, socializing, refining, and approval
Proactively collaborate with EDM stakeholders, second-line partners, and platform owners to understand emerging data risks and translate risks into data management requirements
Collaborate across EDM roles and functions to ensure data management requirements are faithfully realized in data validations, metrics, and communications.
Manage a Case Law process for divisions to seek guidance and approval on ways to meet the intent of EDM-owned policies
Ensure adherence to all CPO requirements and guidelines
Manage controls related to EDM policies
Build relationships with stakeholders of varying seniority to gather feedback, understand the impacts of policy, and collaborate on continuous improvement of the policy lifecycle
Lead the development and execution of other data management projects as required by EDM objectives
The person will:
Demonstrate an ability to advance the conversation about data governance; understand data risk and how to mitigate risk through data management requirements
Draw on excellent program/project management skils, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work
Command a strong attention to detail ensuring that projects are managed and documented appropriately to mitigate delivery risk
Have a strong ability to solve problems cross-functionally
Exhibit outstanding influencing skills to effectively drive program/project
Draw on excellent communication and partnership skills to explain the nuances of policy intent to both data and business professionals
Display a passion for data risk management
Basic Qualifications:
At least a Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
At least 5 years of Data Governance or Data Management experience
At least 3 years of Project Management Experience
At least 3 years of Agile Delivery Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 7 years of Data Governance or Data Management experience
At least 5 years of Project Management Experience
At least 5 years of Agile Delivery Experience
Knowledge and experience in Data Management or Governance
Experience managing large programs across business areas
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
Excellent problem solving and influencing skills
