Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:

This position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Engineering Project Manager for the Cyber Systems group. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

KEY ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:

  • Distinguishing qualifications would include:
    • Functional: Oversight of a function with moderate size, complexity or impact
    • UNIX, LINUX, Windows Operating Systems experience
    • Experience or familiarity with executing using Scrum or SAFe
    • Have or achieve Scrum Master (CSM) Certification
    • Have or achieve SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) Certification
  • Strong communications background (written, spoken)
  • Experience presenting technical concepts to a variety of audiences
  • Strong experience cultivating and maintaining relationships
  • Must be highly motivated, a self-starter, with 5+ years managing a technical team or project(s)
  • Project management experience, to include implementing system security practices (PMP preferred)


HIGHLIGHTS OF RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILLS:

  • The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and organizational skills required to coordinate with the program and government staff.
  • Oversee the technical execution of program commitments of assigned personnel and provide engineering services (hardware/software/networking).
  • Active member of the Configuration, Change and Control Board and will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost/risk, supportability and effectiveness analyses of Enterprise level Microsoft Windows and Red Hat LINUX based systems
  • Frequent communication with high level management and government officials
  • Leads development of strategic projects or large tasks by applying engineering and organizational knowledge and expertise to achieve technical goals
  • Oversees, manages and leads various teams consisting of System Administrators (Windows and LINUX), Storage Engineers, Network Engineers, Database Administrators
  • Reviews status of projects and budgets, manages schedules, and prepares status reports
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, clients and other stakeholders
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and resolve and make suggestions for improvements to the environment
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Provides resolution to problems to a diverse range of complex problems which require the use of ingenuity and creativity
  • Actively uncovers technical and organizational risks and ensures they are included in risk mitigation plans
  • Manage a risk profile and design effective mitigation strategies while maintaining national level system security accreditation requirements
  • Provides technical input to Engineering Management in linking project IP strategy to business roadmaps
  • Understands and interprets the technical, organizational and process aspects of the project plans and executes small to moderate sized projects or groups of projects
  • Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering project within area of assigned responsibility
  • Participates in the proposal process and development of executable project plans on proposals
  • Oversee system engineering process and continually perform team retrospectives and apply continuous improvement objectives
  • Skilled at executing complex tasks and must be able to participate in program and team strategies for multiple projects
  • Provide strong technical direction in linking project strategy to business roadmaps
  • Will interpret the technical, organizational and process aspects of the project as it pertains to customer requirements
  • Create, provide input and review documentation to include standard operating procedures, security documents and plans and technical papers
  • Create, coordinate and assign tasks for project schedules as well as brief status to government officials and upper management
  • Expected to manage work, set objectives and meet commitments for self and others

  • Demonstrated experience with performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies and requirements allocation that translate customer requirements into hardware and software solutions


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the all or part of the following technology disciplines:
    • Windows server applications, systems and network virtualized environments
    • Network/system monitoring/management tools such as ClearSwift, Splunk, OpenAudit, and SolarWinds
    • Red Hat LINUX Environment
    • TCP/IP network protocol, to include a basic understanding of networking components (switches, routers, TACLANEs, etc.) and infrastructure
    • Trusted computing based systems concepts, cross domain solutions, Red Hat Enterprise LINUX (RHEL) systems and other DoD classified systems requirements
    • Logical and systematic conversion of customer and or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
    • DoD classified IT system security configuration and processes is essential
  • Experience in the following areas is preferred: DoD accreditation processes, DoD network security configuration practices, software development processes, cross domain solutions and public key infrastructure
  • Preferred DoD 8570.1 certification for IAM-III (such as CISSP)



Minimum Salary

USD $108,040.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $146,000.00/Yr.

Note: The compensation information listed is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation.
