Job summary
The Red Hat Financial Services Industry consulting team is looking for an applications focused Senior Consultant to join us in the U.S. In this role, you will work with customers to design, develop, and migrate cloud native applications utilizing our Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and Red Hat Runtimes which includes SpringBoot, Node.js, Vert.x, Quarkus, and more. You won't be expected to know everything on day one, but your ability to learn new languages and technologies quickly will be essential. By joining our team, you will become an industry-leading consultant in cloud native applications who can guide customers through the entire life cycle including design thinking, continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD), and deployment strategies, to multi-cloud scaling. This is a remote position with potential weekly travel to customer sites which can be located anywhere in the U.S. within close proximity to an airport. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
Primary job responsibilities

  • Be part of a fast-growing, highly passionate consulting team that is supportive of its members, constantly collaborates on solutions, and strives to facilitate the best use of open source technologies and development approaches to solve real world challenges
  • Participate in practical enablement sessions to be quickly brought up to speed on delivering mission-critical applications to our customers using container, microservices, polyglot languages, and frameworks and design thinking approaches
  • Be responsible for mentoring customers and delivering end-to-end cloud native software development techniques in fast paced, mission critical environments
  • Become highly proficient in developing applications for and migrating applications to for the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform using capabilities like a Service Mesh and Serverless architectures
  • Design and lead complex, large-scale application containerization, microservices development, or "mono to micro" migration projects in challenging customer environments
  • Use design thinking techniques to manage customer-facing problem solving exercises to handle tough problems in an innovative way
  • Constantly learn about new technologies and apply these concepts to customers' needs, present to internal Red Hat team members and at external technical conferences
  • Become a trusted advisor to our customers, helping them achieve business success in an ever-changing technology landscape
  • Frequent travel may be required in the future to work alongside our leading financial services customers, in line with Red Hat COVID guidelines


Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a similar field
  • 5+ years of application development leveraging modern languages and frameworks like SpringBoot, Node.js, Vert.x, Python etc; polyglot is a plus
  • Experience implementing microservices architectures using event-driven, reactive, and domain-driven design approaches
  • Experience with the design, full-stack development, testing, and deployment of large, distributed applications
  • Solid understanding of database design using SQL and No-SQL databases
  • Experience with agile development environments practicing test-driven development (TDD), pair programming, and open source or code sharing models
  • Experience with developing applications for a orchestrated container framework like Kubernetes
  • Experience with design and implementation of comprehensive CI and CD pipelines
  • Excellent experience with Linux, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or a derivative
  • Demonstrated experience communicating value, progress, and metrics of key projects to required stakeholders and diverse audiences
  • Solid written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, influential, project management, and planning skills
  • Sound experience with software development using technologies like Java, J2EE, Weblogic, WebSphere, EAP, Spring, and JMS is a plus
  • Experience in a consulting or a similar customer-facing role is a plus
