Job Description

Etsy Security seeks a security project manager to join Etsy’s Security Governance team. The team is responsible for keeping Etsy safe by implementing sane security policies, examining new tools and vendors to ensure the utmost security posture, continuously rolling out security awareness training to our international workforce, and performing compliance-related audits of systems. The team works closely with the Security Engineering teams to develop and mature Etsy’s security posture.

This is a full-time role located in Mexico City and is open to remote within Mexico.

Qualifications

About You:

  1. You can work in a self-directed space. You have strong critical thinking skills and you enjoy troubleshooting, discovery, and self-driven investigation. You are able to work within guidelines set by your teammates to independently take on solving clearly-defined problems.

  2. You know how to manage your time well. You are diligent about delivering your work in a timely fashion and know when to ask for help.

  4. You are invested in cyber security operations. There is a tremendous amount of work that goes into supporting a security engineering team. Etsy’s newly formed Security Governance team will contribute to ensuring that security policies are implemented while mindfully avoiding team slow-down and toil. 

  5. You are a strong communicator. This role requires you to work closely with engineers, non-technical colleagues, executives, and vendors. The ideal candidate for this role is able to adjust language, approach, and tone based on the audience, and can respond nimbly to the needs that any given situation calls for. 

  6. You are creative. This is a relatively new team within an established company. We aim to grow our program, expand our influence, and make Etsy data, employees, systems and infrastructure safer and stronger. We seek to bring someone in who will present new, feasible ideas and solutions to improve our security posture. 


About the role:

  • Third Party Supplier Management: 

    • Field requests and coordinate security reviews for external vendors (aka third party suppliers) 

    • Maintain existing and help develop new vendor security review processes to alleviate toil and friction.

    • Coordinate details of reviews between internal stakeholders (ex: legal, IT, Security Engineering)

  • Maintain Security Policies and Procedures: 

    • Facilitate maintenance of policies, project plans, process documentation, and procedures for security governance.

    • Work with the Security Program Manager to operationalize and roll out security education and training across the company. 

    • Support planning and coordination for ongoing activities related to our enterprise security program (audits, assessments, monitoring, testing etc.)

  • Program support:

    • Ensure that security invoices are processed.

    • Track and facilitate annual contract renewals.

    • Help to create an inclusive, engaged dynamic on the Security team by maintaining team celebration practices and developing new ones.

    • Manage team calendars

    • Coordinate team celebrations, keep track of team birthdays and life celebrations
