As a Program Manager for Released Product Management (RPM), you will enable collaboration of cross-functional teams in the planning and execution of program strategies to sustain quality, performance, and availability of our portfolio of commercially available products for Peripheral Vascular Health (PVH) patients. As a Program Leader for RPM, the program manager navigates a complex matrixed organization to provide direction and leadership to a team of experts across areas of device development, manufacturing, and supply chain. The Program Leader is accountable to the RPM Board for overall program execution; partnering with business leaders to ensure team commitments are delivered.

Peripheral Vascular Health therapies are a critical part of the Medtronic vascular portfolio, treating patients with a broad range of conditions, including Peripheral and Carotid Disease, End Stage Renal Disease, and Superficial and Deep Venous Disease. We lead the way in the Superficial Venous and Drug Coated Balloon markets, caring for hundreds of millions of patients globally with lifesaving and life-enhancing therapies.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides leadership and support to a cross functional team of subject matter experts within a matrixed organization, focused on continuity of product supply and quality - without direct reports
  • Supports the RPM Lead on governance, portfolio prioritization, scope management, and communications
  • Leads one or more small-scale Geographic Expansion and RPM programs with defined program objectives
  • Accountable for project leadership, team dynamics, strategy, performance, risk management, budget and resource forecasting, issue resolution, and partnership with general manager and senior leadership team
  • Provides input to establishing program objectives, timelines, milestones, and budgets
  • Monitor and ensure alignment of project direction and expectations of senior business leaders to ensure the product or processes meet business, customer, and patient needs
  • Navigates multifactorial problems that arise, requiring detailed information gathering, analysis, and investigation to understand, communicate, and recommend solutions to challenges
  • Monitors RPM requests and supports project intake, scope management, and prioritization
  • Supports communications to stakeholders and leadership on RPM portfolio, status, risks, etc.
  • Drives adoption of harmonized PMO tools, processes, and templates as appropriate
  • Directs activities for multiple work-stream teams through managing project plans, resourcing, status reporting, resolving issues, identifying project risks, and accountability for deliverables across multiple functional organizations
  • Establishes meaningful metrics to measure and communicate project progress and quality
  • Provides leadership to ensure overall quality of project planning and execution, while minimizing and mitigating project issues and risks
  • Sets clear direction and management that aligns with defined business practices and policies
  • Modify and adapt program management processes to fit project needs and improve operational efficiency
  • Communicates and leads meeting with project team and stakeholders, including briefings to management team
  • Influences across functions and businesses while balancing divergent objectives to gain cooperation of other parties on program strategies, objectives, and execution plans
  • Provides input to functional department heads during Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process and related strategic planning activities
  • Motivates team members to ensure effective team dynamics, collaboration, and mutual accountability


Must Have (Minimum Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 5+years of related experience in medical device field and program leadership with demonstrated ability to move ideas from concept to development OR 3+ years of experience with advanced degree
  • Experience with leading or being a team member on Geographic Expansion projects
  • Proficient at simplifying and communicating complex business challenges to stakeholders with varying backgrounds and levels of understanding
  • Disciplined and able to routinely follow standardized processes
  • Ability to take initiative on tasks and establish work requirements with high level direction
  • Results oriented and able to drive accountability in others
  • Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking, project planning, and project management
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal/team effectiveness
  • Proficient analytical, planning, organization, and time management skills to effectively execute project plans and budgets
  • Experience with the medical device regulatory industry
  • Strong track record of leading projects requiring influence management skills and willingness and ability to institute change
  • Significant manufacturing or engineering design experience with high level technical skills
  • Exceptional project management skills; knowledge of process and project planning best practices
  • Business acumen: ability to think from an overall "best for the business" perspective
  • Experience working with contract manufacturing companies
  • Experience and/or certification in advanced project management (PMP preferred)
