GitHub is seeking a Project Manager to work with a busy team of Professional Services engineers. The Project Manager reports to the Director of CodeQL Services and assists customers with Professional Services projects related to CodeQL, GitHub's semantic code analysis engine that lets you query code as though it were data.

Typical projects include training security teams to use CodeQL to find security vulnerabilities, writing custom queries based on specifications and examples provided by the customer, or supporting the deployment of CodeQL within an organization. These are complex projects with fluidity and multiple stakeholders. This role also interfaces with other internal groups and stakeholders including sales, finance, marketing, legal, operations, and engineering.

ResponsibilitiesProject

  • Manage day to day operational aspects of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Create long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines and applying appropriate project methodology
  • Make effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project
  • Adjust schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change
  • Perform quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected
  • Develop project plans and resource plans
  • Ensure services are delivered as agreed
  • Manage project scope, budgets and timelines
  • Be responsible for the overall health and hygiene of their projects and the supporting financial and resource planning tools within GitHub

Resources Coordination

  • Serve as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy
  • Work with both internal and partner resources to successfully deliver on GitHub customer objectives
  • Work with Regional Engagement Managers on resource availability and capacity planning across both internal and partner resources

Stakeholder Management

  • Ensure business requirements are captured and scoped in cooperation with business owners
  • Identify risks and work with management and team members to plan mitigations
  • Effectively communicate status to customers sponsors as well as GitHub stakeholders
  • Create reports appropriate to each individual project and stakeholder
  • Innovate and improve upon processes to optimize for efficiency and customer satisfaction

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a project manager in the IT industry
  • Strong familiarity with SDLC
  • Knowledge of modern DevOps practices
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for team meetings, conferences and client meetings, subject to travel restrictions
  • Experience working in or with large software development teams
  • Great problem solving skills around technical, product, and business questions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to relate technical concepts to customers of all technical backgrounds
  • Collaborative and team oriented
  • Ability to coordinate with teams across locations and time zones
  • PMP/Prince2 (Practitioner) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Git and GitHub workflows
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Experience with Salesforce.com
  • Experience with FinancialForce PSA
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
