Position Summary

Duties & Responsibilities

Through this program, Oceaneering is seeking motivated Project Management Interns to work and learn in our facility in Chesapeake, VA. The successful candidate will participate in a practical, structured, systematic program of on-the-job training AND related instruction to develop existing military technical experience. Internship can be 6 - 24 weeks long and can only commence within 180 days prior to service member leaving active duty service.

Report time in accordance with SkillBridge program requirements, and OII PeopleSoft Timekeeping tool

Assimilation with the organization to include meetings and introductions to functional peers, program managers, and other internal resources. Completion of all required Oceaneering LMS for new hires.

Week 2

40 hours

Introduction to Oceaneering projects, project management principals, and software.

Week 3

40 hours

OJT

Assist Oceaneering project managers to define project scopes and objectives, all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.

Week 3

Assist Oceaneering project managers by tracking project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals

Week 3

Assist Oceaneering project managers in meeting budgetary objectives and making adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis

Week 4

Assist Oceaneering project managers in developing comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members

Assist in developing spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs

Week 6 - 12

40 hours/ week up to 12 weeks depending on length of internship approved by command

Additional, hands-on practice in each topic learned in previous weeks.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Must meet all eligibility requirements outlined in DOD Instruction 1322.29 and NAVADMIN 222/15
  • Official TAD/ TDY Orders to Oceaneering International, Inc. for the period of the internship.
  • Completion of, or enrollment in a PMP Certification program.
  • Completed PMP Certification is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience is preferred, but extensive, relevant military/ civilian experience may be considered in leue of degree.
  • Private or public shipyard experience is highly desired.
  • Experience working on US Navy Submarines, LCAC and/or DDS is highly desired.
  • Advanced level user understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail oriented and results driven.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Must have a Secret/Confidential security clearance.
  • Must be a US citizen who is not a dual citizen of any other country.
