Department OverviewThe Product Operations team for ASTRO Devices is looking for a talented leader to join the project management team to manage the next generation radios being developed for our Public Safety customers. Our mission is world class program management with emphasis on risk management and executing to plan. You may not use our products, but the people you call in an emergency, do. Every day, police officers, firefighters, paramedics and the people who support them use our products to help them stay safe and do their jobs. They are designed to be used reliably under extreme stress - and to be managed from miles away. They are the product of thousands of customer studies - and millions of lines of code. Not everyone can create products like these. Can you?
Job Description
Manages the Hardware development and/or implementation of Motorola Solutions products. Works under the direction of the lead project manager as part of the project management team that delivers an end to end hardware and software radio solution. Coordinates departmental or cross-functional teams, including Software, Supply Chain, Business, Quality, Regulatory, etc... focused on delivering new or upgraded existing products. Manages projects from inception to completion (or transition), including tracking and evaluation of project performance. Ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and within accepted quality metrics. Participates in project review and status meetings, and communicates project status.
Organize programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
Familiar with project management practices such as critical path, work breakdown structure, baseline management, and risk management.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing.
Conduct project team meetings.
Work with key stakeholders to develop and manage budget for projects and be accountable for delivering against established business goals/objectives
Produce accurate and timely reporting of program status.
Present program status as required to different organizational levels.
Work with key stakeholders to identify, analyze and assess program risks. Establish and track risk mitigation plans. Drive for closures.
Work with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities.
Work with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions.
Implement and manage changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved.
Develop an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
Additional Qualified Skills:
Demonstrated competency with a project management tool (e.g. MS Project, Primavera, Smartsheet)
Experience with Google documents, sheets, forms, and slides.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills are necessary.
Desire to collaborate with internal and external business/technical teams.
Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
Organized, structured, and process oriented; team building skills a plus.
Able to simplify a complex situation and provide updates accordingly.
Certified PMP preferred.
Preferred experience with experience in Hardware Development, Telecommunications, Radio Communications, or Aerospace/Defense.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or similar is preferred.
Minimum 2 years Project Management
