Job Overview

The Senior Operations Program Manager will be responsible for, in partnership with the leader of Process & Change Delivery function, (1) the adoption & utilization of Program Management methodologies & disciplines balanced with agility & speed within the Operations Process & Change Delivery team, (2) the establishment & management of the intake process for all new programs & projects driven by and/or impacting Operations, (3) the management of resource capacity within the team against initiative-demand, and (4) the management of Process & Change Delivery routines dedicated to the portfolio health of Operations programs & projects.

This individual should have a strong foundation of experience in Program & Project management, demonstrating effective planning, execution and delivery of complex, cross-functional initiatives, with some experience in both Portfolio Management & the design of optimal processes and operational procedures.

The outcomes of this function are to ensure: (1) the process-engineering skillsets within the Process & Change Delivery function are complemented with program & project management capabilities that drive efficient & effective management of resources, risk & change along each phase of the project lifecycle from Design & Build phases to Operational Readiness, (2) new initiatives impacting or driven by Operations are effectively prioritized & strategically placed, (3) resources within the Process & Change delivery function are maximized, and (4) active programs & projects within the Operations Portfolio are successfully executed to completion - all of which will enable the organization to accelerate growth, drive greater disciplined innovations, and ultimately, achieve business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establishment & maintenance of processes, standards & artifact templates to enable effective adoption & utilization of Program Management methodologies & disciplines within the Operations Process & Change Delivery team, ensuring these are balanced with agility & speed
  • Establishment & management of the intake process for all new programs & projects driven by and/or impacting Operations
  • Ongoing management of resource capacity within the team against initiative-demand, serving up decisions for trade-off's where needed
  • Management of Process & Change Delivery routines dedicated to the portfolio health of Operations programs & projects
  • Ongoing portfolio analysis to drive continuous assessment of what should start, stop or continue (including where consolidation or recasting needed for ongoing strategic alignment)
  • Aggregation of initiative statuses (progress, risks, plans) to provide regular summaries on Operations Portfolio Health
  • Promote departmental, program and project vision in a clear and inspiring manner.
  • Where needed, willingness to step-in and perform project and change management responsibilities alongside the execution-arm of the Operations Process & Change Delivery team
  • Ongoing mentorship & support for the execution-arm of the team as they navigate their individual programs or projects
  • Develop collaborative working relationships across the organization through excellent communication, customer service, and work product delivery
  • Identify and champion workable new concepts and ideas that positively impact the business
  • Required Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
  • 7 years of relevant experience of progressive growth in project and program management
  • 5+ years of leadership / supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to drive large-scale change management within a complex, high-growth matrixed organization
  • Experience with senior executives and ability to create and deliver executive level summary reports / presentations
  • Skillfully resolve conflict, persuade and negotiate with internal and external parties
  • Demonstrate strong performance management and people development skills, including motivating, coaching, mentoring and empowering
  • Skill in focusing on desired results, determining what is important, urgent, clarifying next steps, and delegating effectively to meet deadlines and achieve desired results
  • Ability to work autonomously while maintaining a high-level of transparency into key decisions and issues
  • Experience and expertise with MS Office (word, excel), Visio, PowerPoint and project management tools (MS Project, Daptiv/Changepoint, Planview, CA PPM / CA Clarity, etc.)



Preferred Experience, Qualifications, and Skills

  • Experience in FinTech, B2B, Payments preferred
  • PMI/PMP certification preferred
  • Experience in Portfolio Management preferred
  • Exposure to lean six sigma & ability to design optimal processes & operational procedures preferred
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking and the ability to convey a vision, actively models thought leadership
