About the Team
The Crunchyroll Games team is growing fast! We are a cross-functional team of highly-motivated people spanning several internal departments, working closely with our partners to launch and operate mobile games for the Crunchyroll community.
We are committed to publishing quality content, and desire to evolve the way anime games are marketed and perceived in Western markets.
About the Role
Crunchyroll Games is seeking a Program Manager, Game Operations to work closely with game owners and supporting teams to lead all aspects of pre and post launch operations. This role will be embedded within the games department but will collaborate with external developers, licensors and partners, as well as the broader organization.
In this role, you will take point on ensuring that game owners are equipped to service their products, including but not limited to, technical proficiency, launch readiness, service integrations, stellar customer support, and live operational excellence. You will also play a major role in maintaining relationships with licensors and partners, as well as external development teams. You will report to the Sr. Dir. of Game Operations and interface regularly with leads across the division, including Product, Marketing, Technology, and Business Development and Strategy. You will be expected to maintain order and process in a fast-paced environment, working with remote teams distributed globally.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience publishing and operating mobile game applications. When possible, travel will also be required.
A day in the life of our Program Manager, Game Operations:
- Set expectations and ensure licensors, developers, operators, and support service vendors all have the tools they need to succeed.
- Collaborate with game owners to ensure all tools, SDKs, and data pipelines required for maintaining publishing operations are set up, vetted, and regularly updated throughout a game’s lifecycle.
- Mentor team of game owners across products and provide guidance, support, and (where applicable) assistance resolving key production-related or operational issues.
- Regularly context-switch between multiple games and teams across various teams, orgs, seniority levels, and time zones.
- Actively participate in relationship building (and management) with licensors, partners, external developers, and cross-functional leadership within the org.
- Help define and implement processes across publishing and live operations, including both internal and external functions.
About You:
- 10+ years of experience in production, publishing, or project/product management for world-class mobile game content.
- Intimate knowledge of Japanese business practices. (Bonus points for bi-lingual proficiency in English and Japanese written and verbal communication!)
- Experience mentoring junior and mid-level teams to uplevel capabilities (both internal and external).
- Direct experience leading mobile game products through the entire product life cycle - from conception and development through launch and live operations.
- Deep understanding of the support services and workflows required to power F2P midcore game content.
- Experience facilitating meetings with senior management from external developers and licensors.
- Enthusiasm for anime, games, and gaming.
