About the job

This position is needed to be a Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) for Twilio’s Messaging Regional expansion.

Twilio’s SMS business is growing rapidly with a great many customers with differing needs and an ecosystem of many hundreds of providers around the world that are used to deliver messages. We have a compelling vision of how Messaging scales to offer more local experiences across a range of regions. Our Regional program team leads creating geographically dispersed deployments of Twilio that meet customers' varying compliance, resilience and customer experience needs.

We are seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager to work with our product and engineering teams to plan and coordinate work to deliver this vision. This person will work with product managers, architects and engineering to define the plan and roadmap and help coordinate delivery of projects for this core platform.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Drive alignment between company wide programs or work and Messaging projects.
  • Bring together product, architects and engineering to facilitate developing and tracking plans and roadmaps for several teams.
  • Communicate and create visibility into project status, issues and risks associated with projects.
  • Drive toward continuous improvement through analyzing data and inspect & adapt practices - work with Agile teams and scrum masters to improve project delivery.
  • Drive resolution or escalate blocking issues in a proactive manner.

Required:

  • 6+ years of experience as a TPM partnering closely with software development, devops, systems and infrastructure engineering and product teams 
  • Senior level understanding of Agile software and systems development lifecycles; experience as a Scrum Leader on engineering scrum teams
  • Experience developing or managing engineering or product portfolio planning and tracking processes and cadences
  • Delivering large software projects across multiple teams with multiple stakeholders.
  • Working across global/distributed teams.
  • You have experience of SQL and reporting systems to extract and manipulate data.
  • Previous experience working with corporate business units (Compliance, security) 

Desired:

  • Background in software engineering (as a developer and/or engineering manager)

Location 

This role will be Remote (US) or based in our San Francisco office. 

Approximately 10% travel is anticipated.

  • The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $127,960 - $182,800

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
