The Red Hat Portfolio Lifecycle Management team is looking for a Principal Program Manager to join our team in Westford, MA. In this role, you will work as an integral part of a team responsible for planning, developing, testing, and releasing software solutions, providing an excellent customer experience. This role will be focused on managing the planning and development of Red Hat's flagship product: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). You'll work with geographically distributed teams focusing on different product releases and coordinate their deliverables and schedules. You'll also develop and nurture key relationships with product management, software development management, quality engineering (QE) management and other functions as appropriate. As a Principal Program Manager, you'll need to have expertise in project, program management, and business analysis to understand the requirements and business drivers derived from the Red Hat product strategy and use this to facilitate collaboration across the portfolio. Red Hat's Portfolio Lifecycle Management team is dedicated to delivering a unified strategy across the Red Hat portfolio that amplifies customer feedback and promotes an improved product experience.
What you will do

  • Successfully lead and coordinate complex, multi-phased programs by guiding cross-functional teams across multiple products to define, scope, plan, fulfill, and deliver high-quality software
  • Simultaneously coordinate multiple programs while soliciting multi-program agreements
  • Oversee all aspects of new and existing programs through the full product life cycle
  • Develop and maintain the master plan, schedule, dependency log, and status across multiple releases
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders while fostering an environment of collaboration, trust, and accountability within and across teams
  • Coordinate and facilitate recurring meetings to ensure all teams have aligned goals and are executing to the plan
  • Proactively identify risks, changes, issues, and problems in software engineering processes and develop detailed recovery, mitigation, and scaling plans
  • Identify and track cross-product dependencies


What you will bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field
  • 12+ years of experience delivering technology-related services or offerings
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional, internationally distributed environment and effectively use traditional and virtual communications
  • Mastery of multiple software development and project management methodologies, tools, and requirements management and defect tracking systems
  • Practical expertise and a keen understanding of open source processes, software and Linux
  • Clear, concise, and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel if located outside of MA
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification or other relevant industry certifications are a plus
