About the job
The Red Hat People (HR) team is looking for a Principal Program Manager focused on mentoring and sponsorship programs to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you'll need to be an effective leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and has a consistent record of devising and implementing strategy. You will partner across multiple stakeholder groups, including other career development program teams, HR, and functional business areas. As a Principal Program Manager, you will design, develop, and carry out effective and scalable mentoring programs. You will lead efforts to grow Red Hat's mentoring culture, in support of the career growth of Red Hat's associates. You will also partner with Red Hat's Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Center of Excellence (CoE) stakeholders across HR and multiple functional business stakeholders to scale and implement sponsorship programs as part of strategic D&I and career growth initiatives.
What you will do

  • Lead coordination and alignment across all career development programs and services
  • Partner across HR and with advisory and steering groups to identify, prioritize, and recommend mentoring and sponsorship program initiatives in line with priorities defined by the global functional HR team for target roles or underrepresented groups
  • Partner with the D&I CoE, functional HR teams, and stakeholders in the business to define the objectives and success criteria for sponsorship programs
  • Manage program life cycles from strategic planning to tactical implementation
  • Lead mentoring and sponsorship advisory and steering groups
  • Demonstrate creative problem-solving to create innovative solutions and programming to address unique needs of diverse audiences
  • Create and own the stakeholder communication strategy and plan
  • Educate managers, mentors, and sponsors on their roles in supporting the program and participants
  • Measure, monitor, and report program performance, continually evaluating solutions for quality, business impact, scalability, and sustainability
  • Promote the concept of mentoring and awareness of mentoring offerings across Red Hat
  • Support program participants in getting the most from their mentoring and sponsorship experiences
  • Provide advocacy for program participants, ensuring where possible that barriers to program participation and completion are removed
  • Track program budget and quarterly expenditures


What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree; advanced degree is a plus
  • 5+ years of global HR experience, including with the management of mentoring, sponsorship, or other HR programs
  • Excellent organizational skills, focus on results, great attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting and speaking to global stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, inspire, and persuade across various functions in an uncertain, constantly-changing environment
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including the government, education, and private sectors; adept at synthesizing inputs from various stakeholders
  • Solid change management, negotiation, and persuasion; curiosity and the ability to bring valuable insight into the business
