Job Responsibilities

As a Viasat security professional you will be a valuable asset to our dynamic corporate Physical Security Team that is entrusted with protecting the people, properties, assets, information, and brand of the company. You will have a broad range of responsibilities and will be encouraged to maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers. We will count on you to perform as the lead and subject matter expert for physical security projects, which includes planning, design, bid, construction, and commissioning activities for multiple concurrent projects. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining physical security systems, including electronic access control, lock and keys, badging, visitor management, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and control center systems.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced work environment while multitasking and adjusting priorities to meet the needs of the customers, Security Team, and support business units. You will think quickly to effectively solve problems using strong reasoning skills while demonstrating superb communication skills (written and verbal). This role will not have any direct reports but the ideal candidate will show a passion for wanting to mentor those around them.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee and support various security projects by providing design recommendations, vendor engagement during the bid process, implementation, testing, and commissioning, project closeout, and turnover
  • Research, guide, and implement integrated, cost-efficient physical security systems (e.g., CCTV, Access Control, intrusion detection, etc.)
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) on electronic and physical security systems by communicating to engineers, vendors/integrators, manufacturers, internal IT, Facilities, business leads, and end-users; provide all necessary coordination between internal and external groups
  • Potentially respond to after-hour alarms and emergency conditions
  • General physical security support of NISPOM and ICD compliance program(s)
  • Drive tactical level support to corporate physical security systems, including the management of security integrator relationships, escalation of problem resolutions, and global security operations center support, as needed
  • Support the security vulnerability assessment process by providing systems details, hardware recommendations, operational designs/enhancements in compliance with ICD-705, 32 CFR Part 117 National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), and industry best practices



Requirements

  • Associates Degree or 3 years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of experience with integrated physical security, including enterprise systems environment, or significant, direct work experience with physical security systems projects
  • 3+ years of project management experience
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a secret clearance
  • Excellent written, communication, and organizational skills
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work well individually as well as on a team.
  • Possess the interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, possess good problem-solving skills, and be able to enforce policies in a professional and personable manner.
  • Availability to respond to after-hours alarms and emergency conditions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and general office equipment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain PMP or equivalent certification within one year of hire



Preferences

  • Experience as a security installer
  • PMP certified
  • CPP, PSC, or equivalent certifications



If the Federal Executive Order for Government Contractors becomes effective, this role may require vaccination. In such instance, absent an approved accommodation based on a religious or medical reason, employees in this role will be required to be fully vaccinated no later than applicable deadlines, which are unknown at this point. Viasat will strive to give individuals as much notice as practicable if a vaccine mandate becomes applicable to this role.
