Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Within the first year of employment:

  • Associate Project Managers will be a part of the VMware Academy and go through an intense 6 to8 week boot camp once joining the company, continuing to build strengths by learning from other experienced professionals within VMware. All new hires must be available to travel for the duration of the training.
  • Once the Associate PMs complete Academy, they will join their field teams and learn the VMware Project Management Organization (PMO) methodology
  • Within 180 days of employment, you will start hands-on managing the delivery of VMware PS projects to mutually agreed upon scope, schedule and budget and have the opportunity to work directly with the client and other team members on the day-to-day tasks and act as the primary interface to our customer (both internal and external) to manage the full life cycle of projects or programs.



The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

Our Associate Project Managers can expect the following work assignments:

  • Manage the execution of the project plan and the detailed Statement of Work (SOW) developed for the customer.
  • Manage the goals and scope of a project to ensure VMware's commitments to the customer are achieved.
  • Prepare and maintain clear and concise activity/progress/time recording reports in accordance with VMware's standards and submits to customers, management and Sales.
  • Manage the implementation and daily activities, which are coordinated with VMware and/or partner resources.
  • Communicate project budget and resource allocation to sales, customers and delivery personnel.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the customer and account team.
  • Communicate to all stakeholders and concerned parties any existing or potential customer escalation issues
  • Create and manage the VMware Project Change process as needed.
  • Stay informed of current industry trends and new technology through professional associations, continued professional development, VMware required quarterly training, trade journals, networking, and associated training and seminars.
  • Articulate and evangelize the value of the VMware Solutions and Services business benefit to the customer.
  • Provide a single point of contact during the project lifecycle for all aspects of the project.
  • Maintain financial management and the processes for following and executing of revenue recognition rules and policies.
  • Manage and validate weekly revenue forecast.
  • Perform other duties as required.

The hiring manager for this role is the Sr. Manager of Volume Services, within Americas PMO. A veteran of VMware for 10 years, he is passionate about driving a culture of inspiration, collaboration and both personal and professional development. The Volume Services team is based out of the Atlanta, Georgia office and our Costa Rican office in Heredia, with some team members located across the United States.

Where is this role located?

This role will be based out of our Atlanta, Georgia office with work done from an office some days during a week and other days from a non-VMware building or working from home.
