About You and The Role

Does working on complex integrated electro-mechanical systems from conception through fully scaled production and world-wide deployment excite you? Does hearing people say something is too difficult or impossible make you want to jump in head first? Do you naturally pull people in to help reach a large objective? At Zipline our work is intended for the field. Patients are counting on it today--there is no time for aiming low or for coming up short. If leveraging your talent to drive creating elegantly engineered solutions excites you read on!

Zipline believes access to medical care should not depend on your GPS coordinates. We are at the forefront of a logistics revolution, using autonomous aircraft to deliver just-in-time, lifesaving medical supplies on 3 continents around the world right now, 7 days a week.  Are you interested in building a system that 200 million people will depend on with their lives?

What You'll Do

As a project engineer, you are autonomous and excel at living at the intersection of multi-disciplinary technical team members and project management. You are a glue that holds teams together and your presence increases the output of the whole team 2-3x. You are obsessive over the product and the customer and your primary objective is to deliver something that exceeds expectations for each project you tackle. To accomplish this, you know you can leverage your own technical background, project management skills, and solve any technical roadblock (prototyping, test planning, field testing, documentation writing…) that comes your way. You manage not just your own work and timelines but the work and timelines of others you depend on for support. You excel at communicating broadly and gravitate towards over communicating rather than under communicating. You are biased to action and an efficient optimizer leaning on best practices and proven processes seemingly always getting things done in half the time.

What You'll Bring

  • 3+ years of experience developing capital equipment or hardware from concept to implementation; Familiar with a product development process and key gates
  • Bias towards action - Comfortable doing whatever is necessary to advance the project and the team further and move past roadblocks strategically
  • Communication - You know how to leverage different communication methods to make status & risks broadly know to your key stakeholders
  • You are a sponge - Ready to soak up any new knowledge to be effective in your project leadership role
  • Prototyping experience and fast iterations on concepts from start to finish - comfortable with a variety of tools and working with you hands
  • Some CAD experience - You have the ability to bring your ideas to life
  • Know how to manage a timeline and risks to inform larger teams and use it as a tool to bring a team towards a common goal
  • Prior experience working with internal and external partners like suppliers to implement design changes that improve your products

NICE TO HAVE

  • Prior NX CAD 3D/2D experience
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following - GD&T, DFx, FEA, Electronics, Prototyping & Fabrication
  • Served as a technical project manager formally or in practice for a projects involving multiple stakeholders and technical team members
