The Manager, Technical Project Management is responsible for leading and directing the technical project management team and activities supporting Aldevron clients. This role requires knowledge of GMP biomanufacturing processes and personnel oversight experience to effectively lead the team responsible for the management of method and or process validation and development projects in support of client programs.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee Technical Project Managers and coach them on the necessary skills required for effective stakeholder engagement, task management, and clear, concise communication internally and externally
  • Serve as a resource to Technical Project Managers on technical and operational questions, barriers to success, and risk factors
  • Develop departmental policies and procedures for managing technical projects and educate individuals within and outside the department as it relates to meeting these expectations
  • Build strong working relationships with the Manager, Project Management and Project Portfolio Manager to ensure resources are aligned to critical client and organization priorities
  • Serve as key liaison to Client Services leadership on quoting strategy to drive budget development
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to establish budget development and standard work.
  • Work collaboratively with other internal stakeholders to ensure on-time and on budget delivery of project milestones and various action items
  • Define, collect and report assigned metrics to senior leadership
  • Work directly with department team members to facilitate communication, provide status updates and manage risk
  • Establish and maintain a framework project plan (with meaningful timelines and check points, logical links between activities, internal/external resources, and assumptions) that depicts the activities in line with the approved strategy and the input from the respective departments
  • Track and forecast collective project timelines and provide team with early warnings on possible variances
  • Schedule technical project management meetings and develop meeting agendas; lead team meetings for routine operations, take minutes and ensure follow-up of action items from the minutes
  • Identify barriers to success and work with internal stakeholders to design effective solutions
  • Ensure proper identification and management of project risks and report to cross-functional management
  • Communicate significant variances to cross-functional management and work with the project team to develop mitigation plans
  • Organize efficient information flow within the team, which can be spread across different functional sub-teams
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
  • Facilitate or oversee project postmortems and recommendations in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
  • Identify, manage, and resolve dependencies and possible conflicts across teams by partnering with internal stakeholders in different roles to assess the workloads and impacts for different departments
  • Develop associates through proactive performance management to drive personal and professional growth that is aligned with Aldevron KPI's and Core Value Drivers
  • Resource management and planning for PM resources to appropriately support the project pipeline
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards and trustworthiness
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

This position is directly responsible for leading Technical Project Managers in the department and is indirectly responsible for associates within the department.

Travel

This position requires up to 25% travel if remote

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in method validation, process validation, process development, or tech transfer initiatives required, preferably related to nucleic acids
  • 3+ years of demonstrated success leading and building a high performing team
  • Demonstrated success as a technical project or program manager
  • Experience with various project management software systems
  • Experience in managing a staff of different disciplines
  • Experience within a regulated environment required


Skills & Knowledge

  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office
  • Highly skilled in use of project management software
  • Highly organized with effective time management skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Possess a technical skills aptitude, strong critical thinking skills and continuous strive for efficiency improvements
  • Working knowledge of Danaher Business Systems tools and/or lean/six sigma tools preferred
  • Thorough understanding of cGMP requirements and compliance


Professional Certification:

  • PMP Certificate beneficial
  • Advanced degree in related area of study required
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 or other ERP system preferred


Salary Range $85,000 - $125k plus bonus
